This is a lesson for all of us: buyer beware. :( Best of luck to you, soccerfriend. I hope you get your money back.

paypal does refund when made an dispute, not just to ebay but to all. You can dispute via ur cc bank if they deny, saying a fraud attempt has been made

Oh shite, that's so crap to hear. :(

Can you disclose more information what the buyer wanted? You might also set up lengthy number of documents & info (including names & addresses) and ask paypal for the refund (it might be too late though).

Where did you meet the buyer and did you make some basic backlink/alexa/historical view checks before purchase?

If the buyer is on some discussion board, then simply try contacting him. If it's a scam (it seems so...) then it would be good to give objective data about the transaction & thread and get the guy banned.

If you disputed with Paypal, and you lose. You cant dispute with your credit card. Paypal will fight on behalf on the seller.

I know this may seem callous but try to make it work. Add fresh content, email the dude; see how he made the loot. Like I said before so many people want this quick fix when it's not even remotely possible.

Now...If you were a victim of true fraud, like the site's not making one red cent, gather all information necessary and nail the dude.

Even if the first owner had the revenue he stated there is chance that if you do not use the same techniques you will not be able to achieve the same traffic results.

    masterofdomains106 made some good points.

Those can be 2 very different things:
    - what was in the past
    - what was promised

Depending where the traffic came from (like for example - there could have been some spike in traffic in the past due some article that made it to digg). Did the seller specifically promised that the traffic would continue on the level he said, and do you have solid info on the traffic sources & past?

It sounds like a scam (or at least not being completely honest - which in my books is pretty much same as scam), but I'm not 100% sure what the seller actually promised and so on.

    Basically:
    - contact the guy asap
    - contact cc/paypal/whatnot asap
    - bring the details public if those won't work

actually u can dispute, I have carried so far 2 disputes, 1 succeed (got repayment from an hosting company when they didn't provide what they promised to, they didn't have money back guarantee) and lost 1 against some guy (he made dispute to paypal via cc - a donation to my site)

so try making dispute to paypal, they will let u know the status atleast, be fast to make dispute charges, if it's late then they might not listen to u

I can't believe you guys sometimes!

Here we are discussing away and making judgement and giving advice without the basics.

So let me be the first to ask.

    1) What was the uv traffic when you got it, and how much is it now?
    2) How long did it take for you to transfer the website and how much down time did you experience.
    3) Did you check your backlinks to see if they were paid and if so renewed them
    4) Have you continued with with the necessary website maintenance, submissions, etc
    5) what was the source of your traffic (this point was brought up earlier)
    6) Have you done any marketing, seo work or paid adverting, for the website?
    7) How long do you have this website?

Some of these answers will let us know the answers to the main question here:
"Was the traffick real or fake?"

If the traffic was real, then the buyer simply failed to manage a money machine. On the other hand, if the traffic was fake then we should begin to explore the options that we have. Which are
    1) Try to recover the money and return the website, or
    2) Try to convert a bad experience into a money making machine.

As DP members we can point the buyer in the right direction. Just as we have for tons of us.

    Good advice.

It would be interesting to hear what the buyer thinks about this...

hey calm down. we are just giving tips in order to help the buyer protect. you are right none of us truly know what the deal is with the site. the buyer does though, and he may have an issue or maybe is lazy and wanted the easy road

i think he really does have an issue and the previous owner just scammed him off 2k. fake traffic is SO easy to generate, just as fake adsense stats. if the purchase was done through paypal don't wait another second for a refund. I think the money is already gone though.

If he was making that kind of money and he provided the proof then it might be something up at your end.. maybe it needs more attention! like he was giving

Even I sold this website yesterday worth $2k...as a seller I wanted to keep myself safe and I kept giving him my Traffic Stats along with adsense earnings on a daily basis for like 3 days...
the Moment he sent me the money. I showed him my stats again!
Stats for like first 2 hours of the day...
He was satisfied with the fact that I was getting at least 350 unique hits from google.com along with other Organic traffic like Aol/Yahoo/search and a few more......

Lets just hope he can manage the website like I did....so I think I would have expected the same from you if u were the buyer..
