When the government is afraid of the people, you have democracy.

When the people are afraid of their government, you have tyranny.

We will never have a shortage of people afraid of the government.

There are so many just on this forum who appear to be scared of frozen water particles in the sky and certain wavelengths, so the government would seem quite scary compared to those things.

But do you feel the government is afraid of you? Do you feel that your representatives are concerned about the power of your votes?

The elected officals are more or less in check via the election process. The bureaucracy getting out of control.

So the answer is that if an official or group of officials take the nation to war, in Year 1 of their term, and it is unpopular or undesirable, the answer is to wait 3 years to stop it?
