Well other then smart pricing which I think we can all agree on that I hate how adsense displays site like ebay.com and shopping.com on every site. I have a fight videos site and sure enough I see an ad that says Fight Videos Come shop online we have everything you're looking for Gang Fight Videos Find great deals and save! Compare products, prices and stores. Something to that extent. I only have 1 46x60 ad on the whole page and quite a bit of content. You mean out of all the advertisers that's the most relevant ad they could show me? So I thought fine I will just block ebay and all will be good. I check back a few hours later and now it's showing ads from shopping.com which I'm not sure if it's owned by ebay or not (I'm too lazy to find out) but they are showing pretty much the same ads. I've been blocking ads for a while now but one after another are all shopping sites which don't even have anything to do with fighting. I would imagine that my users clicking on the ads aren't converting well because the target site has nothing to do with my site. Then to top it off I'm going to get re-smart priced for this because of poor conversions. What does ebay really get from showing ads like this? I've clicked on some sponsored ads on google and had ebay come up and then I just clicked the back button. I'm pretty sure everyone knows what ebay is and if they were looking to buy something they will probably go directly to ebay rather then be tricked into going there. Okay that's my little rant feel free to bash be about the almighty G and how they are perfect. I like to argue sometimes it's good for the soul lol.
Same here, Adsense displays shopping.com and ebay.com ads on my site many times. Do I get pay if people click on their ads? or should I block them. I have stupid ebay Ads like this: Color hair on Ebay Right Price, Right store, ... ebay.com
Thanks, that's what I figured their useless ads looked similar You get paid but it's usually only like 1-2 cents per click. Also by not blocking ebay and shopping.com you're more prone to get smartpriced by google.
I tried blocking ebay and shopping.com yesterday and 12 hours later their still showing up. I know it takes some time to block sites but I thought it's only like an hour or two. Does it usually take over 12 hours to block a site?
I take off all big name sites with the competitive ad filter because I know I won't get paid JACK with those!
I swear I could make a site about "hanky panky madonna panties", and the next day I'd see Hanky Panky Madonna Panties Shop for hanky panky madonna panties on ebay www.ebay.com Yes, I've got the same problem. I don't know what's the deal. Google probably has a big contract with companies like ebay and agrees to promote their sites regardless of content. Sort of like a bulk discount plan. Pisses me off because I'm in a sweet, tight, high-paying niche (no, it's not hanky panky madonna panties ) but I still keep getting stupid ads from ebay, shopping.com, etc. And yes, lately I've been getting smartpriced into the dirt too. Rant away bro. Amen. *edit* PS, it really gets under my skin because I HATE EBAY. If you're an ebay seller, remember to boycott ebay Feb 18-25. A lot of sellers are protesting ebay's new tyrannical policy change which will go into effect on Feb 20. You can probably google "boycott ebay" for more details. Ok, there's my wtf-does-this-have-to-do-with-anything rant for the day
Yeah it really sucks. What sucks even more is I blocked the sites and the ads are still showing up. They seem to be block proof somehow.
If you guys target tight niches.. well that is probably the problem ("tight niches") since your niche is so small there is not enough advertisers and ebay automatically get the spots. Also, blocking ebay for you guys is probably pointless, because it is you versus ebay and their enormous army of a thousand/s affiliates.
I didn't think Fight Videos was a tight niche if that's considered a tight niche I would hate to see what ads other sites show. Even on my old myspace sites ebay would show up. Myspace was one of the most flooded niche's at the time
There are little to no advertisers for those keywords. I don't see any advertisers for "fight videos" or "gang fights" for a search in google: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=fight+videos http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=gang+fights&btnG=Search You might want to target other related keywords to get better ads.
