I have an xp pro cd and cd key. It is a burned disc, with no image. It says imation music cd-r on it. It has windows xp pro on it, and the cd key is written on the cd with a permanent marker. My friend gave me that disc with the laptop I bought from him. He got the disc from MSDNAA from going to school. I really need money, and I am not using that disc or cd key on my laptop, cause I have vista. Also I sold my desktop and I gave xp home with that, cause that is what I bought for it. Please just give me a yes or no answer with an explanation.
Burned discs are never legal to sell. No matter if you bought the real disc and burned it then lost the original
If you live in china. I think there are no laws against it. At least none that are enforced. But in America that is illegal.
yeah.. it depends upon the law of the respective country. BTW, its illegal if you want to sell it in DP or ebay.
ok, thank you guys. so anybody here want to buy windows xp pro for a good deal? Just kidding Guess I will keep it. If I build a computer that I want to sell could I include that disc or would that be illegal too? It is a genuine key and everything, and I hate the people who make the laws. REALLY BAD. If there where no laws, I WOULD BE RICH.
I really can't believe you even asked if it was legal. Of course something that is copyrighted and can not be copied and sold unless you have some kind of special license to do so. It is illegal to sell it in any form. It is also illegal to even use the disk to install on a computer you plan to sell. You blame the law but would you want something that you created to be stolen and used by anyone for free? No laws would not make you rich because others would be able to get their own stolen stuff themselves. Would be no need to pay you to steal them.
it wasn't stolen. I bought a laptop from a friend who got the iso image or whatever from his school, which then he burned it to a disc and gave it to me with the laptop. Anyway, I guess I will be keeping it then.
If you were to build and sell a pc. You could consider installing the OS on it, but I wouldn't recommend including the burned disc with it.
The only reason to officially have CD-R's of software you own original rights to have is having a backup. You cannot sell or distribute it in any way or the FBI might fine the hell out of you.
