That depends on how old the children is. Don't tell me you buy beer for a 5 year old kid? But if he is 19 yo, nothing wrong with that.

If they are in your house and its only YOUR children it is fine. If they are younger than 14 thats not right though. My parents let me drink wine coolers and beers when a was around 11 and 12 but it wasnt a lot. Now I drink beer around the house like people would drink soda.

It depends on the kid, it depends on the parents, it depends on the what the legal drinking age is, it depends on the gods that you believe in, it depends on your family history, it depends on the society you live in .... etc...

The legal drinking age in AU is 18, which is also the legal driving age - which means people do a lot of both when they hit 18. Which is not a good combination.

I think the legal drinking age here should be dropped to 16. Although not many 'kids' under 18 ever have trouble buying booze anyway. If parents don't buy it, then most kids will find someone else to buy it for them anyway.

At one time, I would have been rather sanguine about parents buying alcohol for their teen-agers, but that's when I was a lot younger. However, if the kid is over 18, and is drinking only at home, I suppose it would be OK.

    Anything after 16 and i can't see a problem.

They will have to face the choices of alcohol and gambling later in life.

Better off making them make decisions now, then only showing them later.

Alcoholism has -as far as I know-a genetic component...parents have to induce their children a nonalcoholic style of life...it's for their best!

    True.

But as soon as there 21. They will go crazy if they have been restricted from it all there lifes. I think moderating it. Teaching them moderation is the best.

My father used to buy alcohol to me when I needed (I was around 15 when this started) Now Im 28 and I only drink beer, I don't like strong drinks, I rather drink a Pepsi or something like that :D
So I would say that its OK if its monitorised somehow, my father did that by buying me (I think it was) 33cl bottles. ;D

Also remember, I was grown up in Sweden and there is homemade illegal alcohol for sale there a lot, so if my father didnt buy me this, I would buy the illegal one, that might in worst case kill me or I end up blind.

yes i strictly believe if any parents are doin so then they must be told that thier future is atleast not safe. today alcohol beverages and tomorrow other such things. this will simply ruin their child life......not just child's life but their life too.

I don't see anything wrong with it after a certain age, but if a mom is buying her 9 year old lil girl a 6 pack of mikes hard lemonade than yes that is a problem.

Although I'm personally a non-drinker, I think it would kick ass for your parents to buy you alcohol.... "Hey son, look what I got you: a bottle of beer and a pack of condoms. Are you going over to your girlfriend's or is she coming here?" "Dad, I'm only 8."

    Man, that rules.

I hate the hangover, I like the first punch. I don't think its good for parents to buy alcohol if their child is their child is under 21.

If the child is like mature enough, and will be home all night, than yeah it is fine, but if the parent knows the child isn't mature enough to drink, than I think it is wrong.
