Hello there. in the mather of Filehosting VS Imagehosting, wich would be the better one to start as a Business ? basiclly, wich one would you earn more from, and why? im just wondering out of curiousity
I have experiance with both of these websites, and have been running them for years. Here is a simple break down: Filehosting site: More revenue (adsense) Imagehosting site: 2-3x more traffic compared to Filehosting site We have a network of these sites, so it balances out in the long run, but, that should give you a simple idea. Here is another simple and most important tip, Have a GOOD Budget to spend on these sites as they are not cheap to run. Good Luck.
ok thanks! im running http://filefrog.net on a VPS right now and im just confused ad what point i should switch over to a dedicated server, cause right now i just have 10-20 uploads a day. also, watermarks / sitetext on the images, do you belive this good or bad ?
Well I own image hosting site .. it is getting around 10-20$ daily .. I guess file hosting can make more .. specially if it is free file hosting where there is no waiting time like rapidshare and megaupload .. For image hosting .. rarely people use your website since there is imagevenue .. For file hosting .. if it is free and have huge space and bandwidth .. a lot might use it I am currently looking forward to start file hosting .. But i dont have the enough money to buy server since it needs more space and bandwidth than images ..So i will wait till later time when i have the money Because i will be in need for around 10TB BW Monthly
Image hosting sites use less bandwidth but are more processor intensive as files are smaller and theres usually more requests
You need to remember as well, when someone downloads a file off a file hosting site, they need to go to your website to view it. Whereas someone could link the image in on a forum and the viewers would never see your site.
