Those are not the same. Smokers harass non smokers who are nearby. Not the other way. You keep paedophiles away from school. You do not keep all kids away from school if a paedophile is nearby.

Everybody must know the adverse effects of smoking and take it into account...Banning is a motive for illegal and dangerous actions.

You can't just simply say smack, it should be banned. Rather than simply doing that the governments and whoever else should be trying to maximise prevention rather than restricting those who really are addicted, but happy to smoke at whatever consequence to their body. Educating people better should help alot, although i'm sure alot can easily doubt that with some of the ad campaigns going on now, not sure how people can watch and know the effects whilst still take up the habbit.

Restrictions on smoking are also good but to an extent. I do like how you are no longer allowed to smoke in clubs are bars BUT restricting out door areas such as parks would just be stupid. Pretty sure alot of smokers would be considerate and not spark up near a family when there are areas further away where they could harmlessly smoke.

I smoke occasionally so my view will be a bit biased, but i've found that providing places in pubs, clubs and restaurants (designated places for smoking) near me for smokers to go seems to have gone down well for both smokers and non-smokers. At my local pub there is a sort of big tent that smokers can go in and smoke which means that non smokers can enjoy their drinks without smoke being blown in their faces.
I don't think banning smoking would achieve anything other than more crime!

Might as well ban MacDonald's, drinking, driving, spending too much time in front of computer and drinking tap water while we are at it.

You'd probably best get rid of your car or motor bike if you that concerned by getting killed by cigarette smoke and help reduce any air pollution. The pollution of some cities would be worse than smoking a few cigarettes a day or breathing in others. Apparently (heard it in a video) that breathing the air in metro Mexico is equivalent to smoking 2 packets of cigarettes a day.

Isn't tap water the one thats good for you and bottled water being bad? I'm pretty sure that's how it is over here in Australia!

I don't smoke. But I think it should not be banned. There are thousands of things which are harmful for health, these are not banned. Let think the increased amount of carbon di oxide. It is harmful for health. Isn't it? Now will we ban carbon di oxide production? Is is possible that no fire will burn out? Not possible.

It should not be banned but I would love to see it prohibited in closed rooms. In open air, it isn't a problem...
