Not to interrupt the bickering here but I'm looking at dirjournal and it's a nice looking site but the category I belong in is 3 levels deep with no PR (I know, I know PR isn't everything or anything for some people) but I feel better laying down money on a page that has some PR. Has anyone used this directory and actually had visitors or an increase in the serps $60 or $100 is a large sum of money for me without some positive reviews. Thanks
When you do, make sure you tell them that it's not your account that you're using. That should help expedite your complaint.
While i will appologise for allowing myself to be drawn into a heated debate and agree not only that page should be deleted but other posts from page one. I do hold firm that the attacks were uncalled / over the top and showed little to no respect to the OP. In that back to the basement and i can only think that anyone here has the right to make statements without recourse or without being questioned as to the basis of those statements. I have ignored this user so i will leave the rest to take the challenge , you are damed if you do and damed if you dont.
It seems DR is too heavily dependent on stats of Yahoo SiteExplorer. One of my directory-- which is PR4, 16 months old, not penalized by Google, ranks within 200 for every possible directory/category ------- keywords/phrases on Google and within 100 on Yahoo is down to newcomers. The truth is --almost all SEO/SEM specialists agree that a quality link must have good ranking (within top 1000) on SEs to lend SEO value to a site listed on it. Age of the domain is also a big trust factor. IMO SEOMETRE's crawl rate tool is much more important criteria than backlinks that can easily be manipulated by $$. Just buy/subscribe 20 homepage backlinks that have few thousand pages indexed. Anyway-- 3rd party ratings ( as Pete, ala britishguy always puts it) are not concern for me.
They are to be already indexed by search engine and I am not to be arguing I am to only point out honest opinions. I am to be near truth which is hurting peoples but to give red rep to me as silkysmooth and his friends are to be doing is to only encourage me to be uncovering mysteries of any wrongdoings on directory scene. There is to be something very crooked with many directory peoples and I am not to be accsusing single peoples. Those who are to act in fright like silkysmooth are surely to be having thing to hide and I am to be determined to discover. Red repping is like being red rag to bull I will only to charge harder and faster. For record I am not to disrespect original poster I am to disagree with silly directory rate system for it is not to be explained why it is to be made. You peoples are to be so blind for OP is to be insulting person for not to be telling people not secrets but in very least method why pretty page with no content is to be huge 9+ when other who are better are to get lower. I will to be keep digging.
Why are some people slating this DR. It's a free service, it gives some free traffic, it's just a site someone has put on the web just like any other site, just that more works been put into it compared to a lot of others which is good. From what I can see it's a good looking professional site that seems to rate directories in an alright way. Well some of the ones on the front page I have heard of anyway and are popular ones that have some authority on the web.
Why drag up an already boring subject? DR got slated because it is a load of nonsense and it doesn't bring any qualified traffic, at best it would send another directory owner to another directory to check it out, that doesn't put food on the table. The directory strenght thing is a load of nonsense because if you look at the facts it couldn't possibly justify how it gets it's findings. Using DirJournal as the obvious example, why would it have a so called strenght of 9.3? It doesn't give free listings as it suggests, it doesn't have thousand of links, most categories are empty, so apart from what I think is an excellent design it offers nothing more than a PR6 with no PR for inner pages. It's the same through the list, you'll see these sites with a so called high rating but with no reason why. When the owner is challenged they come out with nonsense like 'we can't give out algorythms', no they can't because they make them up as they go along. IMHO it's just a gimmick and a bad one at that. For the record, I don't blame whoever the owner is of dirjournal or the other directories who have been allotted this rating thing, in reality it isn't doing them any favours as it brings them under scrutiny. People should do what I do, take a look at it, roll my eyes and say ah well, nice to see some people have plenty of time on their hands, wish I did.
