Alright, after getting settled down with the earnings..I tried some of the social networks....Well they really worked out really nicely in terms of traffic.. My Q is...how profitable is DIGG or STUMBLEUPON for your site.... I feel like 99% of the ppl simply leave the website without even checking it out....I'm not sure tho
Digg is bad for adsense, the users are more knowledable about technology and they mostly use adblocking software or they just will avoid clicking the ads. So you end up with a large amount of traffic, your page impressions will go up - and your click through won't really increase by enough to even that - so your CTR will actually drop, and you'll get paid less money. If you're lucky you won't be smartpriced either. BUT, the traffic that comes from Digg is good because you'll get a few rss subscribers and you may get into the serps a bit higher (don't expect miracles). You'll get some trickle through traffic for the next year or two, but don't expect a huge surge in adsense earnings (biggest misconception amongst people). StumbleUpon is a bit different, it's a bit of traffic over a longer time - so again your adsense earnings aren't going to really increase all that much. The best way social network to get traffic from is something like youtube or off of a myspace page - lots of users who are used to the ads, and stand to more likely click your ads. Assuming Google fixes it's problems that it's having right now
slincon is right.. I've been on the front page of Digg twice, and even though it generated about 100,000 uniques in only a few days, earnings were virtually nothing.. even a year and a half later, those Diggs still generate 500-1000 uniques per day, yet only 1 or 2 clicks. Same with Stumble.. i have had huge stumble-storms (5,000 or more visitors in just a few hours) - and virtually no clicks. Now here is what DID work: I wrote about this in my (now free) ebook, but because it's difficult, i dont think many people ever bother to try: GET ON THE RADIO (or better yet TV)! when my site was only about a month old, didnt have many pages, and still had very poorly placed Adsense ads, i called-in to a popular radio show that was related to my niche. Because I had an interesting front-page story the radio show host (a guy by the name of Leo Laporte) talked about the site for several minutes.. Traffic was immediate (~50,000) - but then lived on for months because of his podcasts.. That first burst of traffic netted hundreds of dollars, and earnings remained high for the next several weeks from the additional podcast traffic. It's difficult to do, and if you have some krappy pre-made script or MFA, dont even bother - but it's worth it if you can pull it off - and it's fun..
I have also read on here that the Digg and Stumbleupon traffic does not convert well to clickthrus but do you think that a small percentage of the people that discover your sites will return and some of those may click on your ads? It would be impossible to determine which users that clicked your ads found your site from Digg or Stumble but it could be a possibility.
any traffic from Social Bookmark sites like digg or stumbleupon do not convert.. they are just crap for adsense or any other advertisement network.
social bookmarks only help you to get traffic and a higher alexa , nothing else , traffic from search engine pays more
what should i do to get traffic from stumble upon? I mean what do i post to get traffic to my website? Anyone can advise? Need help urgently on this?
Digg plays a small percentage in my site's success. I find that on the days when search engine traffic is high, my earnings are a bit higher.
Those sites are only for increasing traffic not for making money....if you get 10000 hits may be among them atleast 100 ppl want to check your site one more time..that is the only benefit
I think the cost of bandwidth is higher than what you'll earn from adsense even if you get million of traffic from them. you can better monetize that traffic with other stuff. most of the people came from digg or stumble are like us, trying to squeeze the juice out of adsense..if you know what i mean...
You'll be better off approaching the social nets as a way to gain a few subscribers and possibly a few links. Most visitors will turn around and leave. But, the traffic is great if you are in it for the long haul and simply trying to gain a few more eyeballs.
u guys are actually right there..., and hey my click rate has gone done for some reason im not making $10 every day now... i know i know! forget that its only 32 days old site! i got settled down with the earnings till i tried Digg/Stumble.... the interesting thing is that Im almost seeing the same ads i use to and yo! Im also getting the same number of clicks but there is a major decrease in the earnings...so after my 3 days experiment...do u think i should simply stop it? Thanks God it didnt effet my organic traffic...getting around 400 daily
Is you're site had been optimized already? Engage in social bookmarkings, articles submission, directory submission and be initiative. There are lot's of program and guide for that.
