Is Kontera some kind of scam?

I started Kontera back in November 2007. I made $317 in November and December. I still have not gotten paid for those months. When I email Kontera about why I haven't been paid, they do not return my message.

Does anyone know if they are a scam???

Kontera is awfully bad with emails. I emailed them before and it took them somewhere between 2 to 3 months to reply (long after the issue was resolved). I have gotten paid however and so have many others so I don't think they are a scam. They do take a long while to issue the payment though. Typically one full month after the last month's payment that reach over $100+ and then another couple weeks for payment to arrive. I would estimate 2 months waiting period at the longest regarding any payment that reach over $100 by the end of the month. So let's say you made over $100 in November. Expect payment late January or early February. Of course since you haven't gotten anything from your November and December payments, maybe there was something wrong with the info you provided or maybe you have not filled out your tax ID info... It could be a number of things, unfortunately email is the worst way to try and get a hold of them. If at all possible, look for a phone number of where you can call them at.

FYI, I probably won't be using Kontera for much longer once I hit my next $100 mark enough for a payout. Compare to many other PPC advertising, the income for Kontera is extremely slow in comparison. Even adsense would get at least 7 times the number of revenue (in my personal experience).

Yes, I have been doing research to determine if Kontera was causing a decrease in my Adsense earnings (on the same website). The ads that pop up with Kontera have nothing to do with the content of my site for the most part. And they pay much less than Adsense for each click. I figure that for each click on a Kontera ad, that is one less click on a higher paying Adsense ad.

Now Adbrite offers inline contextual ads exactly like Kontera, I am thinking of giving them a try. I really want to diversify and not have all of my eggs in the Adsense basket. I still have some hopes for Kontera, but it isn't looking so good at this point.

Personally, I can't stand Kontera, their ads suck, at least on my sports blog and they pay per click seems terrible so far. I would stay away from them, there has got to be a better one out there. Oh, and don't try adbrite, they are even worse.

a nice alternative to Kontera's in-text advertising program (the links with the double underline) is zintext. only for ebay affiliates tho.

After I signed up for Kontera, it took a while for it to get going, and there is a delay before you get paid - three months I think, so as oncameratalent said, you are just about due to be paid.

Having had Kontera on one site for some time, I'm not pleased with the result. First, the payment dropped quite a bit after a while, and then I noticed the pages were loading slowly. When I looked down at the status bar I could see that all this time, kontera was trying to find suitable links, and the surfer was staring at a blank page.

Not good for getting people to view the site, so I'm removing kontera gradually.

I have used Kontera off and on. Their ads are stupid. For example, on one page today the word "kissing" was linked by Kontera and on mouseover up pops another stupid Shopping.com ad saying something like "Kissing, find kissing at Shopping.com". Did I mention their ads are stupid? Don't pay well either.

Zintext looks interesting. Too bad they aren't forthcoming in how much of a cut they take. They just say a "very tiny portion". No transparency = no way. Plus the big warning in the TOS that says their service is not approved by ebay or CJ. Maybe it's ok, but maybe it's not?

Surely not a scam! Being paid by them from more than an year without failing even once, and on time. Last month, it was about $6,000

There is a Kontera representative from Kontera here. I am not sure who he is. May be Mika or somebody else. Do a search and ask the person directly.

.. Mika is the Kontera rep that hangs out here..
They arent a scam, and I've made good $$ with them over the last year, however in the last few months, their earnings have been in the toilet. But, they've always paid on time (after that first 2 or 3 month delay), and any time i've had a problem or question i've emailed it to my account manager and always got a fast response..
Last week I started testing Chitika Linx and the unaudited earnings were incredible (4x eCPM of Kontera).. I'm waiting now to see how the earnings look after they get "audited" - If Kontera does not improve, and if the unaudited earnings are still (way) higher than Kontera, i'll have no choice but to switch.

Kontera is perfectly alright for me. Although they'll take few weeks to answer your querry, they'll definitely answer your problems. My advice is- please go for paypal payment in Kontera rather than expecting check payment. They'll will paypal you once you crossed $100 in the next month. The TOS for payment is similar to Adsense. Now, Are You Happy With Kontera?
