google uses its own method to get rankings. And btw alexa ranking are not reliable.

 

install alexa toolbar and start a script to new window again and again ... you will find the difference .... hahahhaa.

But you don't need to do it ever. You may just do it from time to time. I haven't done it myself.

 

I think only thing it is important is for advertisers and nothing more. I do not want to advertise my site to a site only has 10 viewers a day

All you need is Google results. People use Google. They don't use Yahoo and Live that often. Target Google. That's it.

 

If your alexa rank is say less than 5000, many people would like to pay more to buy your site.

 

Dont think google considers alexa rankings. I am sure they have a more accurate application like alexa running on everyone of our browsers to get more accurate data and rankings

it's just reference, i have try to add in SEO, it rank increase up to 5 million within few days. but they take time to update the rank and population

Alexa is inaccurate and easy to manipulate but that tells more about traffic than any other tool. Google's pagerank is becoming more meaningless as the months go on. So I think Alexa ranking is more important for your position in SERPs than Google's PR nowdays.
