Depending on whether that Google Search box makes you any money, I would be tempted to get rid of that and put a horizintal link unit in the grey bar to make it look like your navigation. In fact for link units you do not get paid until someone has clicked on it once AND then clicked on one of the resulting listings. Thus per click you will generally get less.
I never liked link units, but reading this last night I added it to one of my "medium" celebrity fan sites. It got around 50 clicks, each being worth around .01 -.02 each. Compared with other units on the page, which generally get .05 - .10 per click.... it's a big decrease in CPC. I''ll leave it up for a few weeks and see how it's doing on a bigger scale
I think link units receive so many clicks because unlike a text ad unit there is no description or URL under it therefore people think, "oh! what is this?" and then end up clicking on it to see what the title meant and where it will take them anybody here agree?
One thing to consider is whether or not it is bringing down the CTR on your other ads, if it is then sure thing ditch it but if the clicks are additional then there is an argument to leave it.
Yep! I found that the link units started sucking the CTR from the nearby banner, by about 50% ! and since the ePC for that banner is wayyy higher than on the link units, I had to drop the link units.. high ctr, very low ePC..
Hmm I put it for about 20 hours, and got 5 clicks on it with 10c worth each..not bad! (link units didn't work for me before)
Yep this makes total sense, but that's why experimentation is so important because you wouldn't have known this unitl you tried.
Link units are great, the can blend in the site, and at first u cant even see that Ads By Google part,if u put them the right way in the site...which im sure u all did
