When Vista came out, I joined the ranks of the Linux users. I tried Ubuntu, currently using Gutsy, x86-64 bit. I actually have to say that I had less downtime with Linux than with Windows, and a lot of things were actually easier. I have a desktop with wireless connection, and with Windows I had about 70% signal, with Linux about 95%. With Windows I'd spend 2 hours installing drivers when reinstalling it, with Linux every driver was found and installed on first install (except that I had to, again, click-and-go, enable the preinstalled proprietary nVidia driver). Inline spell check also helps, it works with all programs you use, even Firefox right now. I could even play Oblivion, CS, HL2 plus a bunch of other games with Wine. I have tried Vista right when it came out, but liked it none too much. Given the ease of installing Beryl, literally a click-and-go, it easily beats both Vista and Mac OSX in eye-candy. Check out the screenshot ->

The forum won't let me post a live link :(

To Microtekblue - since Vista came out, the number of Linux users doubled. A coincidence?

First off, you do not SPELL IT ALL IN CAPITALS, as this is equivalent of shouting. Second, never insult your opponent, attack the issue.
Were you in a live discussion, you'd be thrown out after 3 sentences, regardless of how correct your views are. In this case they aren't. Your manner of speech, spelling, use of CAPITALS, will make you a scapegoat every time you try to make a point across. And just because there are fewer Linux users doesn't make them crazy. Perhaps they do not want to be the sheep as Microsoft, in the name of profits and the almighty greenback, shepherds them through the Valley of Darkness towards slaughter? Not quite that dramatic, but you will have no rights when you stop reading the 800+ page long EULA on the 1-st sentence. Slaughter of your rights indeed.

First off,,,you have 2 posts, and your the one getting all offensive, when I merely posted my opinion and expressions...AND I don't get your whole anti-CAPITALIZATION concepts. As long as the whole post isn't capitalized you will find it common for people to express their highly emphasized posts and comments using CAPITALS!

AND if you cant handle a counteractive comment to your posts, then you will have issues in this forum lol.

Hmmm, given all the warm reception I just may leave it at 3. The number of posts doesn't count, the quality does. I am on offensive, although you very well qualify as either Microsoft Fanatic or Microsoft Zealot, so when someone attacks M$ YOU take it personally. I was (and will be) on the offensive, except it is against MSFT. You have to distinguish between that my young padawan. Your opinions might be valid (or not). Besides, this is really getting off-topic of the thread. I'd suggest that the starter try to go away from M$ as a few people have already suggested. Lots of good choices (FreeBSD, OpenBSD, OSX, all sorts of Linux variants - all are Unix-compatible BTW). That's what I did. Occasional caps are OK, but not the way you use them. Let us not foget
Just the sort of thing a Microsoft Zealot would shout in the town square... But it is now me who is attacking you. Saying that someone is not in a right mind because they want to use something to which you do not agree using, right after quoting them, really IS a personal attack. And so you will be dealt with harshly. Or not. This is the Wild Wild West out here after all.
As to XP petition - well, that can rot along with DOS and Windows 95, and 98, and Me, and 2K, and Vista, and CE...

I've been running vista since it's release and it's seems that from what I've read and heard everywhere that I'm the only one in the world thats having great performance and completely stable after weeks of uptime. I think it depends more on your hardware i guess. I'm never run vista on any other machine but my own so i don't have an opinion on what it runs like on say a Pentium 4 single core processor or Pentium D ect.. I have a e6600 with 2gb ram.

A lot of people on this forum will bash the hell out of Vista, but if you have a good computer with at least 2gb of ram then you are set to enjoy it. The OS owns and is only improving as time passes. The cool thing about Vista is that it learns from what you do on the computer and then speeds up your frequent tasks. It basically leanrs what kind of user you are and then gears itself to fit your needs. After using Vista for a few months you will notice significantly faster performance...which is always good. :)

Lots of bad info and "advice" in this post if you ask me. :)

Vista is just fine, IF you have a decent system and 2g of ram. Personally, I wouldn't upgrade just to have it but I would definitely put it on any new machine I get.
