Dubai has a lot of oil money, but what sets it apart is the fact that they are spending it. Dubai is running out of oil in the very near future, and they are spending massive amounts of cash to position the country as a top luxury travel destination. If you look at pictures of Dubai in 1990, you can see that it literally sprang up out of nothing. Many economists would scoff at the notion of an "artificial city" working in the long-term, as the supply of residential and commercial real estate was built before there was a demand for it. I would usually agree with them, but then there's always that example of the incredibly successful artificial city: Las Vegas. It'll be interesting to see if the great Dubai experiment has worked 25 years from now.
these people know very well that after they ran out of all the oil+gas they got from nature they will be left with very little to do.....so they are preparing to host as next most sought after tourist destination in the world.....crude wealth
