I suggest you to buy the Compaq series. it is very cheap and good performance. It can be get around 35K in India. but it comes with windows vista basic home edition. the only thing you need to upgrade your RAM or install XP in your machine.

i know its very difficult to get all the windows XP drivers for Compaq V3000 series. but i managed to get all those drivers, and its available with me.

i used IBM thinkpad, Dell and compaq laptops. but still i feel the worth for my cash is only the compaq. ( the only drawback is, the Vista in its 512 MB RAM).

Between Dell and Sony VAIO, I'd go with Dell. Otherwise I'd take a look at a Toshiba Satellite. :)

there aer many things u shld have in mind. Your usage. requirement and job profile. laptops basically are ahrd to distinguish -----so we distinguish according to requirements. some goes for looks where as some goes for quality. depending on nature of job and working hours on laptop -- u can chooose the lappy u like the most-- not much difference as a ayman. u might choose looks over quality or better performacne over looks. i think u have big enough budget to cover either way. so decide ur requirements and buy what is best for u

I would recommend a Toshiba Satellite P105-S9339 or a new version of the same. It's a GREAT laptop, for a good price.
