page rank & backlinks

I've had a site now that has been up and running for over 7 to 8 months now but the page rank is still zero and google still says we have no backlinks yet I have a lot of affiliates with PR's between 3 and 6. I was just wondering how long does it take for google to recognize these backlinks and update the pr of a site? I'm asking because I have over 1300 backlinks recognized by yahoo but none by google?

Create an account at http://www.google.com/webmasters you can view all your Google backlinks in the external links section. As for Pagerank it takes time before the "visible" Pagerank changes, usually quarterly.

I believe they show all the current backlinks their crawler found since they last updated that information in Webmasters Central. Are you referring to the "link:" operator?

You should have higher SERP ranking that's the goal of SEO, not to get higher PR.
Google will check how much that link is relative to your website, the link you are making might be having nofollow.
Yahoo supports nofollow, but Google does not.

It takes some time to detect.
Links from irrelevant sites have a negative effect.

    Hello,
If you get traffic (the most important) don't worry about Page Rank :)

It should be updated by the next page rank. A few sites went without an update in the last page rank Q3 for 2007. Should be updated by March/April.

Google values links only from quality sources for quality keywords. Differ your keywords while promoting your site, and use a diversified network to get links. Dont just rely on the affiliates.
