I am using BANS and am trying to generate keywords. A few of my sites are manufacturer related. ebaymotors. So it would seem that my keywords need to be: BMW 325, BMW 325i, BMW525, etc. Do I need to be concerned about having the word BMW repeated too many times? I read somewhere that too much repetition is somehow penalized.
If I were you I'd change it, because if someone finds out it goes straight to CJ network quality dept. Try to use as many different words as you can without repeating them, that's just a suggestion but also a tip to keep your CJ account safe.
Maybe I'm missing something, but what is wrong with a ebaymotors site dedicated to a specific manufacturer? I was thinking of it in terms of an SEO issue, but would like to find out more about your concern.
Some advertisers "forget" to mention their terms in the description page yet they still complain if you try to play with the same words all the times. It hasn't happened to me but I know it happened to others and if the advertiser does a check of how you got many leads/sales he can chargeback all of them saying you used the same word many times. It's just a suggestion, normally it doesn't happen, but I'm just saying if it does don't be surprised. I don't know what's your goal and how much you're planning to make with it but if it's not a lot just go for it. Goodluck
As an advertiser on CJ, I can say that a case like that NEVER happens. Why would an advertiser care how many times a word appeared on your site?
That's absolute baloney. Don't pay any attention to it. That said, keyword stuffing will create problems in ranking on Google, i.e. the page or site will not enjoy rankings that will draw traffic. The practice can put you at the bottom of the heap.
Well, you might be among the good people but I've seen some big brands which I won't mention here, did some bad stuff to some people who worked just like me as affiliates. And YES, the keywords was their "excuse" to blame the affiliate, and guess who "wins" in that case, the advertiser of course. This isn't a baloney, and I suggest to every affiliate to check with advertiser for his keywords policy and get it confirmed by email from the advertiser.
I'm sure you heard incorrectly. If an advertiser reverses commission for how many times you have their product name on your page, the advertiser is violating CJ's TOS. Are you talking about fellow incentive sites, or just normal affiliates? Anyway, eBay has no issue with you using any trademarks of products that are listed on their site. Google won't see any fault as long as all of the links go to unique content.
CJ network quality does not care about how many times words appear on your page. The keyword policies only apply to search marketing. I've worked on a number of different CJ accounts & I've worked with CJ for a long time, and I've never seen anything like that happen. If you're running into any trouble, it's probably because you run an incentive site (although I'm pretty sure that I've seen your site come up before for one or two programs that I used to work with, and I never saw anything that could have become an issue).
I'm talking about normal affiliates, and as I said I've never had this issue but I know someone who had, but I haven't heard his story first-hand, yet I do believe to what he said. He was blamed for playing with keywords and not only his leads got reversed - his account got closed.
We've never had issues with keywords because we don't use them, except for advertising our website but this has nothing to do with CJ of course. I was referring to friends' stories, not myself.
That's most likely referring to keywords on PPC campaigns. Advertisers do have restrictions on what you can or cannot bid on for search marketing campaigns.
Well, he made leads with the program and they got reversed... What is the relation between PPC and leads?
I don't want to "keyword stuff" but at the same time, I think available "targeted" keywords are limited. Is there a good resource or rule of thumb for: (1) how many keywords; (2) how many variations of a single keyword (e.g. plural, spaces between words, etc.); and (3) how many times a single word like "chevy" or "ford" should be used?
