How do you rate digg for marketing purposes? Please share your experiences with digg. Also i had another curious question. How many diggs would you need to reach the first page? Cheers everyone, Regards, Joey112
i rate it 6/10. if your article is good you will see lot of traffic coming to your site but that traffic hardly converts.
I deal with the political niche... and even if my articles suit 90% of the readers.. it still gets buried because of a couple rouge haters... And they ban you for nothing, lol and Like sticker said... traffic almost never converts
Digg is excellent for Alexa rank marketing but it's a numbers racket. Also, agreed with Sticker, conversion is extremely low & unproductive.
How many diggs do you think you need to make the front page. Currently i have an article "free sports picks" and it has a lot of diggs. But will this be allowed because the site has gambling content? Cheers for the heads up. Joey112
you make $10,000 a month... and you use a free blog I read something very recently you need like 200 diggs to get to the front page as of a couple days ago. What you have to do is get someone who is a power-digger, then pay other people to digg it and just promote the hell out of it in the couple hours afterwards. If it's reasonable you'll get lots and lots of backlinks from bloggers and traffic for months - certainly certainly one of the best ways to advertise if you know how to get it to the front page.
I got a front-page article and uhh it helped me learn about server loads and optimizing processing usage. The traffic is mostly garbage - a lot of people use HTML parsers and ad-blockers. However! Its a good source of deep links and a lot of the political commentary is interesting to me. Hey Decoyjames, my name on digg is Korr. Send me your info and I'll add you to friends if you don't mind. I'm always looking to expand my political network on there.
great post, very insightful You guys are missing the point - Digg is the EASIEST way of getting a high PR link to one of your pages. It will get the page indexed in Google within 24 hours guaranteed. That's why submitting to Digg is so useful...at least for me.
I saw a guy with PR7 link. From digg. How hard would that be. How many digg's do you think you would need for that? Good advice mate.
This is weird, I decided to check my front page story http://www.digg.com/2008_us_elections/Sean_Hannity_Forum_Bans_Ron_Paul_Discussion It has 3452 diggs and its showing a page rank of zero!
Does 1 for 1 diggs work? Like there getting done in the freebie sub-forum? Or does digg pick up on this?
I dont think the number of Diggs matters for PR purposes. Whether it has 1 Digg or 1000 it still looks like the same page/link to Google.
Lol. That is because that Digg page has 0 backlinks to it. You need at least 1 backlink for any PR. PR is about the quality and quantity of a pages backlinks.
So that would imply that Digg's internal linking (at least after several months of falling down the pages in users' profiles) doesn't carry enough weight to boost the PR of a front page story in the long term. So why would you even want a Pr7 digg page if you could just have those backlinks to the original article that Digg is referencing? Is the page you're talking about relatively new Joey? The Pr7 may be because the SEs still think the Digg.com/ page is still linking to it.
Yeh im confused. One guy/girl said in this thread, that it leads to a high PR. he/she seems to have done a runner.
