I have always been a registered Republican. It was not really a well thought out decision on my part. When I was registering for the first time I was with my parents, who are lifelong Republicans. They are kind of die hard Republicans, so I didn't want to make them sad to think I may have become a Demoncrat. It made them very happy that I registered as a Republican, but really I will vote for whoever I want. I'm not very conservative like many Republicans. In addition, I am pro-choice and not religious.
Rebecca how can you believe that the majority of republicans are truely conservative? The only conservative republican i saw was ron paul. The rest are just puppets of the power structure. Now that ron paul educated me on what the republican party truely stood (past tense) for, it doesnt seem half bad, but he also said the republican party has been hijacked didnt he. the only other person i would have voted for was JFK and not because he was democrate or republican but because his nsam's stood against the military industrial complex that was taking power away from the middle class and poor and transferrring most of it to the elite. Im also pretty sure that if i studied up on the original democrat platform that it would hardly resemble the one that is out there today. Good intentions on both sides hijacked by the rich and powerful.
Many Republicans I know approve of the patriot act and Guantanamo, they would never think about getting rid of the tax system and are moralistic about how we should all live. They usually support the evangelicals and are homophobic. Ron Paul doesn't seem like a Republican I know. He doesn't seem like a conservative either (at least not in how I define it), but that's a good thing.
Exactly Rebecca, Ron Paul is a classical republican and classical conservative. I wish we had more of them, but i have a feeling he will gain in popularity by 2012 and is making some good moves to consolidate his popularity and power base.
Ron Paul? Come on guys, Mike Huckabee is a patriot in the truest sense, and NEEDS to be the next president of the United States! Unfortunately, I don't foresee that happening in 2008! Looks like we'll likely have McCain as the GOP nomination, which isn't a bad choice, just not the best one IMHO. We need someone who's going to get rid of the IRS, and allow this beautiful economy to run its course as nature intended. Fred Thompson would have made an excellent president in my opinion... Oh well, maybe we'll see a VP bid for either Huckabee or Thompson? I can see it happening.
100% in aggreement Rebecca His son looks like he could pull this off also, hmmmm maybe in 2012 Rand Paul for president. Here is a video of his son. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rx-3X8gGASw&feature=user hehehe he said in the video that george bush made bill clinton look like a fiscal conservative loooooooooooooooool.
He's a classic conservative and a classic liberal. The two ideologies are not incompatible. Over time, we've been led to believe that conservative and liberal are opposing view points, but they don't have to be. Both require individual liberty, and following the rule of law. Somewhere along the line, we've forgotten that defending freedom and liberty are supposed to be the government's #1 job. Not protecting big business, or trying to join up with world governmental bodies, or promoting democracy overseas, but looking out for peace and liberty at home. Making sure everyone has the opportunity to be prosperous and free. Dr. Paul started a very good thing.
Most women are democrats until they get married and have children, then they turn to the republican party.
The democrats are more sincere: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVlwH7-05Fk&feature=related It ain't easy bein' cheesy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egJ8NtvVFs8&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pu9TQq0C3Ac&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su3JIS9VbtY&feature=related What do you mean no school of the Jihad, they had school of the americas don't they? I'm an ultra-conservative not registered with either party but busy campaigning for the Republican party.
