Hey guys, I need some help! I have a goal to within 6 months to 1 year time be what I would call a successfully bloggers. In my eyes a successful bloggers is one who makes a monthly income over and above what a normal paying job would produce at minimum wage. The problem I am facing is not the time, or funds to start the blog I have that covered. My problem is the lack of idea for what sort of blog to start. The main problem is that the blog I want to succeed so badly is already going and I blog in it daily and its starting to get popular. But as great Bloggers would say like Darren at ProBlogger you need several blogs that produce income incase one dies or becomes unpopular. I guess my problem is that all I really know is the internet, how to make money with it and such. But that market could easily die and I would have nothing to fall back on blog wise. Sure I can fall back on Web Design, SEO, Marketing etc but I want to blog and be great at it! So my question is what is a good way to find out what I could blog at? I don't want to blog at something that people don't want, I want to know what people want that I can do. So far here are my ideas.... Do You Taste It? : A Blog all about great tasting food, not recipes like most food blogs are but rather more along the lines of where I share my experiences with certain foods and what I liked or didn't like about them. Help Me Lose Weight! : This blog could be about me, I am in decent shape but could shed a few pounds! It would be very interactive and I could give daily updates with pics and such. I would also run contests like if I don't lose This Many pounds this week I have to shave my head or have some stupid consequence for not reaching a goal. Adobe Say What? : This blog would be all about the Adobe products, I am pretty good at designing and such so I could have info, tips and all that kinda jazz on all the adobe products. Thats all the ideas I have so far, I could do them but im not sure its what people would want... The problem is writing about something to get people involved, I can get the traffic there but I need them to return. Well thanks everyone and let me know your thoughts please!
Your first priority is to find a niche that you are comfortable in. Those three you stated are a good start. Then you need to find out what the best and most searched keywords are for that blog. Then, choose a domain name with that keyword in it. If the domain starts with your best keyword then that would be perfect. I can help you find out what the most searched keywords are for a niche if you have trouble with that. Hope this helps. Col
I'd read it if it was well written and had advice and tutorials. I've taught myself photoshop and this year I plan on expanding my knowledge into the other adobe products. Other than that the only advice I could offer is blog on something you have a passion for. Readers will pick up on that..and the money will flow. (Yea ok I don't have an established blog, but from all the reading i've done on dp and knowledge I have on marketing and customer relations,to me makes it obvious.) Last night i was doing a search in a particular niche topic that interests me and i realised that's what i would do on my blog.Becuase i would be learning at the same time my interest should be sustained longer, rather than blogging on a subject with half an interest. Hope that helps?! cheers, arcanus
He should...i'd visit it. Although videos take up a lot of bandwidth, unless they are hosted on youtube or something, then use theirs .
Lol, Well I have no doubt a photoshop blog could do well and I could easily add in videos and such. I guess that means I better do the adobe related blog....
Its not the lack of ideas... Its my lack of talent for anything non computer related. Out side of the computer I cant do much of anything really, probablly because I havent put the time into that stuff. But the photoshop blog sounds like a good idea so I will go for it, will need to get a custom design made so I should have that done here in a few weeks time along with several great videos and written articles for it. I want a blog that people want and need, so I am hoping some of you here at DP will spread the word once its ready!
Do something your good at. Or work extra hard at this. If you are looking for a niche, congrats, welcome to the question of the century.
Start a personal blog like I have done. If you write interesting articles and get your name about more and more people will visit. The only difference between mine and the one you are going to do is that I don't do mine for money.
