I have a few questions.... How many times can I mention my keywords in the <TITLE>? I heard the the optimal amount is no more than three times. I have a ton of content and I am trying to go after variations on certain keywords.
Truthtrekker, I would avoid direct repetition. A couple of exceptions are the use of singular and plural versions of the same term. Secondly abbreviations and full words. Keep the title as short as possible. The more words used the less each individual word stands out.
Ok... I'll have to tweak some of my pages. For example if I'm optimizing for "ACME green widgets", can I use use "buy ACME green widgets", "buy ACME green widgets online", "ACME green widgets on sale", "ACME green widget products"? Being a N00B, this confuses me. All of these variations are pretty niche(the actual products) and each one sees a substantial amount of searches.
Sorry.... I used the quotes to demonstrate the keywords, I don't have them in quotes on the <TITLE> page. Should I follow the same rule of thumb for the META keywords information as well? What about META keyphrases? Would it be redundant to have both? This is the last of my lame questions, I promise.
Truthtrekker, a suggestion using your widget example: Green Widgets | Widget For Sale Online | Buy Acme I've put the green first - to distinguish from other widgets. Widgets second - the plural generally beats the singular 2:1. For sale online as mentioned above are not generally key terms. Acme I'm presuming is the brand. So it goes last.
