Sign Company Website Not Moving Up On Google Searches?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by jvfconsulting, Feb 6, 2008.

    One of my family members currently owns and operates a company that does signs out of Stockton, CA called SIGNCO. www.teamsignco.com

    When I do a search for "Signs Stockton, CA" SIGNCO does not even show up on the first page of listings presented. I've tried several different searches using the keywords but it will only show up if I do a search for the title. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Which phrase do you think people use to search for signs?

    In our analytics account we see people are finding us with the keyword search "signs stockton". It also shows "Custom Signs" & "Real Estate Signs" are being searched for and finding us.

    Thanks for the compliment and also the help. We do have a sitemap its located here.. http://teamsignco.com/sitemap.xml

    What page needs more Keyword density? The main page with all of the featured products do those links count as keyword density for that page?

    1) Too many keywords in the keywords meta tag.

    2) The keywords need to be localized. Instead of "sinage", for example, the keyword should be something like "stockton CA sinage".

    There should be no more than 6 keywords in the keywords tag, and they should all be localized for their geographical market.

    Also, this line needs to be fixed:

    <link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" media="screen"</HEAD>
    Code (markup):
    Notice there is no closing ">" on the css call. Doesn't seem to be causing a visible prob, but you never know how a little flub like that might throw off an engine spider.

    Thanks for all the great tips warehouselarry! Good catch on finding the missing closing on the css call! I'll be updating the keywords this evening.
