Lately the money I earn per click is getting less and less and was wondering what could be the cause. Since I have different niches, I have compared the payout per click for a couple of sites and this came out of it. Site A in Jan 2008 : x amount per click Site A in Jul 2007 : 3 times x amount per click Site B in Jan 2008 : x amount per click Site B in Jul 2007 : 2 times x amount per click Meaning that I get between 2 and 3 times less per click now, compared to 6 months ago. While my clickthrough rate for both websites has gone up... I have heard rumors that it may be account related, so I installed my friends code for a few days to see if the earnings would go up, but they didn't. So far the only conclusion I can make is that because the economy is getting worse and worse in the USA, the advertisers don't spend that much money on advertising anymore, therefore lowering the cost per click for them. Do any of you have the same for your sites and/or have any ideas as to the cause and maybe even have remedies?
i cant say this happening with mine, but what i notice is the more impressions that appear well the speed at which they appear i get more per clicks most i getting per click is like 0.80 i got a few $1, i am hearing people who only get a few cents so not really sure to be honest. Be good to see other people results using adsense
OK, dug some deeper into the issue and it does seem to happen to a lot of people and indeed a thread on WMW, see http://www.seobook.com/why-adsense-earnings-are-sharply-dropping and http://www.webmasterworld.com/google_adsense/3550643-1-10.htm Unfortunately nobody has a remedy...
I've seen the same trends occurring on my web sites. Maybe the advertising solutions are becoming more and more competitive which leads to cheaper advertising costs for the advertisers and lower payouts for the publishers.
its January. this is the worst month for advertising EVER. Everyone has spent all their money in December so wait for awhile and things will start to pick up in March.
There is seemingly no rhyme or reason to the adsense revenue sharing system. I sometimes wonder if they actively manipulate the thing to keep payouts as low as possible. In fact I'm wondering that about the entire affiliate and ad network industry.
That's a very valid point, only the drop in earnings per click started about 3 or 4 months ago for my websites...
Take a look at you ad targeting and change the content. I had a celeb site that was averaging $1 a day and the end of Jan it had slipped to 20 cents a day. I changed the content a little on the homepage a few days ago and I even got a $2 click today.
Most companies that have an advertising budget, budget for the entire year. If funds are running low it's at the end of a year not at the beginning. A bad economy is definitely a big reason for the drop in earnings. It's a waterfall effect... ...The economy tightens up - general public doesn't spend as much - website owners don't earn as much - advertising budgets get smaller - lower bids for keywords - Adsense publishers earn less.
