Well after all the talk with google de-indexing you because of buying links i decided i better see if its still alowed. I heard some where that you can buy 6.4 links per day and be ok with google, is this true? Also is it a good idea to spend money on directory links? Just need some answers guys, thanks!
6.4 links? What you gonna do link to .4 of the domain? No buying links is not acceptable as far as Google is concerned, not even 0.1 of a link. Directory submission is not considered buying / selling links because you are paying for your web site to be reviewed and included and as long as the directories you submit to adhere to Google's guidelines then there is no problem submitting to them. The ones to avoid are those which have reciprocal options, as these are the ones which Google are targetting as well as those directories which have purchased links to boost pagerank.
As far as I am concerned there is no problem with buying links and you should make sure that you are buying too many links you can easily get PR3 or PR4 by interlinking your websites and buying around 10 or 15 links from PR3 websites But if you buy 200 or 250 links in a month ,you will get noticed by Google and the site will be penalized
Freewebspace is correct you can basically get away with buying that amount of links and the interlinking does work as long as you are linking back to a page that is related on the subject. There is no exact amount of links you should buy or not buy but around 10 or 15 a month is a good amount. Don't ever buy links where it will be posted as paid advertisment or even sponsor the word sponsor means paid. I have been doing SEO for 7 years once you have done it for so long you just know what is safe or not safe at the time but g*ogle algorithms do change. I won't post the site i work for on here just not safe to do so but just search lakers tickets and dodgers tickets that will give you a idea. Hope this helps in the matter.
Yeap there is no problem buying adsense from Google, for the rest I wonder if it is hearsay or the truth. I myself do not think that Google being such a huge company would try to stop some tiny directories like us from making peanuts.
I agree, very much so, sometimes i see google as flexing their muscles but really not that bothered about us at all, they give a little nudge from time to time to remind who is boss but honestly if you gathered every last directory in the world and combined the strength i think it still would have no level of threat to the search engines at all. I mean after all theres a huge population that has never heard of and probably will never learn of directories. As you say wisdommtool, we make peanuts compared to them.
This is my own guess, what I am guessing is Google do not come out to clarify just to let people think that way . So they wont need to do anything and benefit extra from the fears generated by ourselves.
