this my 3rd consequtive month above 10K (been a publisher since almost the start) so who else is minting it in? my own costs are fairly high tho more than half will go on server fees
i have (well to be more correct the limited company i work for and founded) several huge sites, 2 are in alexa top 1000 and yes alot of traffic both in unique visitors/pageviews and physical bandwidth, one of the sites is a online file storage service and is pushing ~1gbit as we speak thru more than a dozen servers, all this bandwdith is very expensive not to mention other hardware costs suppose it takes money to make money im not going disclosing the site for obvious reasons but all my servers handle 1 in every 200 internet users daily (alexa 0.5% reach combined) so more than likely you came across our sites already i was on dp back in 2005 but never got around to registering, im after finishing 14 hours of work so decided to unwind and spent some time here maybe get to know other webmasters in same boat
My experience tell me not to go with hosting site You may try make a third big website with low server cost. Good luck!
we do have other sites that are not bandwidth intensive, but instead they are fairly database hungry due to the huge amounts of users
$5,000 only in server fees is insane... How many sites do you own and how many dedicated servers do you own? Server fees should never chunk into 50% of the earnings, it's just not right..
WELL I M xxxxxxxx DIGIT CLUB AND LOVE BEING HERE DOING NOTHING , JUST ENJOYING LIFE AFTER WHAT I HAD BEEN DOING FOR YEARS AND CURRENTLY BUYING WEBSITES THAT ARE IN 5 DIGIT CLUBS... pM ME IF YOU GOT SOMETHING
it is right (and comparatively quite cheap since i have good connections to datacenters in US and Europe) since the services i offer require alot of bandwidth and CPU resources, btw by this stage its 30-40% for 13 servers and rising fast for 2 sites in top 1000 and several more in top 10,000 if you dont believe me about the costs, go do some shopping for a 1gbit dedicated bandwidth you will be shocked making MFA sites that run on shared hosts will take you years and alot of work to make money (tho now that i think of it has taken me years with adsense and alot of work to get to where i am, lol ) @CEO monster you mother ever teach you not to SHOUT on the web? here some reading http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette
I imagine that the amount of clicks you get on Adsense is massive, so the amount of money that you get per click must be pretty small if you earn only 10K and spend 5K on bandwidth...
yes fairly small, ive noticed that every time traffic doubles the cpc goes down tho this month is on track for 15,000-20,000
Congratulations ionix5891 We are at about $4,000 per month, so not quite halfway to $10,000 yet. But hopefully it won't be too long. It has only taken us 1 year to get to this point, and the climb upward has ramped up as time goes on. We started with making 1c in our first month. Our website costs are very low- under $50 per month hosting + our internet connection and associated costs of working on the site, + domain reg. Looking forward to joining you at this level some time this year.
congrats to you to, you'll notice a point were traffic just keeps growing exponentially as long as you are offering a compelling service for example right now im completely undercutting all my competition by not charging any subscriptions, but once it gets bigger subscriptions have the potential to make alot more than adsense are offering now
