I used to use a program to secure my website from right clicking as well as "view source" type of theft ...

I'm trying to remember the name of it ... it was a very good investment if I recall ...

Does anyone have any suggestions ...??

It's java script that blocks it but that doesn't stop anyone from just saving the whole file.

On another, related topic, we just launched www.protectedshop.com offering security scanning services for websites. For sites that are secured we offer the GuardedSite security seal. This helps improve conversion rates. We're doing a free 90 day trial to kick start the service.

This was not a javascript solution ... it was a software solution that encrypted the site ... I just do not remember the name of it ...

Don't know if you already know this, but those types of programs/scripts should not be counted on for ANY type of security. There are very simple ways around viewing your source and saving images from your site.

    JWR ...

I would have said that too ... until I actually encrypted the site with the program ... and then I obviously tried to get around it ...

Are there ways ...? Of course ... there will always be ways ... but this particular program defeated 99% of those supposedly "simple" ways ...

Well ... it took me awhile last night ... searching through a lot of old "crap" on my old computer ... but I think I found it ... it was a program called HTMLProtector ... by a company called AntSoft ...

Does anyone have any familiarity with it ...??

I think I'm going to see what I have to do to resurrect my license ... I remember it being a very handy program ...

You got the original source of "what" exactly??

Can you explain your comment of "all it does is escape the whole website"??

lol with a quick javascript disable it is possible to view the source. Also its not necessarily needed to right click in able to view source. you can always view > page source and get the same results.

Yes I was able to get the source of the whole page [link]. I did this by selecting the whole page and right click > view selection source. Also i was reffering to the javascript escape() function which isnt pretty much security but 90% of your users will not find this out nonetheless. if you need anything juss let me know.

There was another guy on here with such a thing... but instead of using Javascript, he used Flash, which was a little cleverer in that it was the Actionscript within the Flash doing the work (the visitor saw no Flash movies or anything). So, people turning just Java applets, Javascript, or any other specific things like that off still couldn't copy and paste the code (though you could view it no problem). Turning ALL scripts as well as all embeds was the only way to get around it-- something like NoScript for Firefox did the job well.

Remember, it doesn't matter what gets encrypted. Browsers don't have a de-encrypter or anything-- they need to see HTML and CSS to display it. And if the browser can see it to display it, then so can the user.

There is never any code worth stealing. Seriously.

Disabling right-click was generally not for preventing people from seeing code, but to prevent saving images (copying them). Also easily worked around, so it ends up being a waste of code either way.
