Classic New site no members problem

    Hey everybody,

Ive recently opened a traffic exchange program for humor websites, where the users place a set of links on their site and receive 4 visitors for every 5 visitors they send to other sites. The difference being that the page itself has to be a content page (not just the index page)

So far however Im not able to bring in any new members (as in at all!) because no-one will join if the site is damn near empty.

Can anyone give me some pointers on how to get the first few in?

    thanks.

post in humor forums, find humor sites and contact the admins. Submit humors in other humor sites with your link.

Ye thanks, you know any humor forums for webmasters? The problem Im having is that no-one wants to join while there's no users.

    Jimmy,
I am having the exact same problem in a different Niche! I call it Sellers attract Sellers (my site is a niche classified site), and in your case, nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd. I have tried free offers, rewards, contests... No luck so far. I think if you try using the forums that could bring in some people, and that is what you need, some!

Man... I wish I had the answer to this problem as well. We have a blogging network www.instantspot.com , with somewhere around 1000 registered users, although with any network like that the *active* user base is a fraction of that. The users we have love our service, but we just can't seem to get over that hump where it propels itself. I tend to feel that if the number of users was 10K as opposed to 1K we would start to see that kinetic movement. It sure is a frustrating problem to solve though, especially when my talents lie in programming and far from marketing!
