Many people I have seen switch with no issue, once they use it they don't go back (or they use gmail for primary until the others die off.)
Wow let me relate back to this, when Yahoos CEO talked as well as many big investers as well didn't even have the words GOOGLE in it. There not going to get sold out, bought out etc. I stand by this
Of course not. Because only competition produce the great products. If Google acquires Yahoo then we will loose the great ideas.
Now with the MS bid for Yahoo, what do you say about that? Interesting turn since this thread was started.
The question is...would they be allowed to? Because wouldn't that be just getting rid of their main competition?
I would consider buying Yahoo, but not at the price Microsoft is willing to pay because the are loosing their market share and has not been profitable for a while.
I think if Google wanted a portal type site like Yahoo! then they'd just go ahead and make one. Seems like it's smarter just to let everyone else do all the portal building and make money off of them through adsense etc. rather than deal with the kinds of overheads and bloat Yahoo! has.
I highly doubt the SEC would approve a sale/merger. MS stands a better chance in an acquisition since they would stand less scrutiny given Search is not their core, nor do they have enough market share with a merger to garner a monopoly on that market. Google however does.
