In a unique initiative, China has started the world's largest cow-dung methane power plant in the Inner Mongolia region, thus using the greenhouse gas methane for generating electricity on a massive scale. According to a report in ENN, the power plant, which was started with an investment of 45 million RMB (roughly 5.7 million dollars) from the country's largest milk producer - Mengniu Dairy, is able to supply 10 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to the national power grid. Methane gas is the second-largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions worldwide after carbon dioxide, the report said. Methane should be CH4, doing so will save the environment and cut down on the overall methane emission. I am not sure of the actual process but I would assume that the byproducts should be water and carbon dioxide. Finally this big giant of a polluting country is going green!
It sounds like a good idea to me, as well. Better to burn it and retrieve the energy rather than let it escape into the atmosphere. It's too bad that they can't tap the methane right out of a cow's ass and prevent it from escaping into the atmosphere at the source.
Global warming is nothing more than a conspiracy to tax the world through a global centralized government. Pollution on the other hand is a genuine threat, this methane renewable and relatively clean energy source is to be commended.
Yes, the Chinese governments is definitely moving towards being more environmentally friendly. Some good initiatives in the works. Good to see.
