    What do you think?

Is it bad to use Search Network and Content Network?

Is it actually better to just use Google Search?

    Any comments are appreciated.

    Thank You

It kind of depends on what product your selling, but from my personal experience, I've had lots of success with the Content Network. Just remember, the content network is a different audience and you might get a lot of "trigger-happy" people that click on anything and everything. That's why it depends on what product you're selling and what keywords you're using and how you write your ad. Sometimes I get thousands of impressions on content and less than 100 impressions for search, and some of my other campaigns are just the opposite.

But basically, I use Search Network AND Content Network for all of my campaigns and they've been quite successful on average so far.

I got thousands more impressions and links through the content network and the clicks cost you less too. I don't know how to find out which are better value clicks in terms of conversion, but traffic is good.

Yea but how much of that traffic converted

This is only my opinion, but if you are a newbie to adwords I suggest that you turn content network off otherwise you might find that you will eat up your budget in no time at all

The clicks from the content network tend to be very untargeted which do not lead to sales

When you become more familiar with the whole concept of adwords you can then start to experiment with content network or placement targeting but until then you are probably wise to deactivate it

For example: if your ad was about apple ipods , you'll find that it might show up on websites about apples and oranges ( thats how inacurate content network is)

The initial question was wheather or not content network is a good option

I don't care how much traffic you get, if it's untargeted and not converting then it is just useless and costly traffic

I wanted the member to be aware that there is a huge difference there and he needs to understand that content network should be approached with caution

As far as how to track conversions... you'll find all you need to know HERE

    Have a good read :)

Ditto, for certain campaigns, Ill run Content on, with another campaign with same adgroups with content off, search network only. Oddly enough, out of my latest campaigns, the content one converted best and cheapest. It is a great way to get far more impressions with very lil click costs and requires very lil attention, but this is only if your product/service is suitable for it.

You'll get a lot more impressions on the content network, but like was already said, these users may be more apt to click through just out of curiosity rather than a real interest. Your conversions are generally higher on the search network, but you can get lower CPC on the content side.

    "Turn content off"

The worst advice ever given. It's just the opposite sometimes you should turn search off. If you think you can't get targeted traffic from the content network, you have either never used it or don't know what you're doing. The key to targeted traffic is making your ads crystal clear as to what you're offering and what you want the surfer to do. Managing the content network is a bit different too but don't listen to anyone who tells you to turn it off.
