Hello, I would love to hear your opinion on my google adsense placement on my blog , Steve's Tech Blog My blog has been around for 2 months. I only start putting the ad last month, generating only $1 in revenue. How to effectively increase my earnings? What keywords is perfect for my tech blog? Thank you!
On the homepage, you might want to switch one of the 468x60 ads in the post area for a 180x600 skyscraper that run right down the middle. Put it where the recent posts are. The first thing that caught my eye was the left hand 125x125. Having a sky scraper directly under that might draw attention immediately to them. Use text ads only too. Also, you might want to move all the blog elements like the recent posts and categories from the left sidebar to the right, and have 4-5 125x125 ads under the new adsense skyscraper you put there. I've gotten fairly good clicks to mine in that position. If the visitor needs to use the site navs and blog elements...they'll find em in the right sidebar. Plus the new left sidebar layout will be seen from the single page view as well as the homepage. Remember, search traffic goes directly to the page itself, usually, not the homepage. You might also want to move the link unit up, into the black header...left of the blue/black button links. Don't try to match the adsense to the existing buttons, but make the link color the same blue as the buttons and the ads by google white. You might see some clicks form it...It looks like it will fit just right too. After that, maybe put a simple breadcrumb navigation in the old adsense link unit spot. With that, you'll get two "lines" of text navigation in the same spot on your page. Your site is good enough to retain visitors and thus they'll be using the navigation of your site. Whether or not I'm right about the "hot spot" down the middle...the general consensus is the "hottest spot" is the top left. Assuming that's true, you get visitors viewing in this manner: 1. Page title 2. Link unut 3. Text nav 4. Article Title 5. RSS Subscribe 6. Adsense unit From there they'll be reading left to right and viewing an adsense ad everytime they do "right" Hope this helps
I noticed you had some sort of survey, which was in Flash. I really don't like flash and know a lot of other people who don't either...so they have it blocked. I'd recommend using more text-based surveys/ads
Wow, thanks for your long yet informative suggestion. Some of it I have implemented it on my blog. Thanks I have removed it.
