    This is good information, but is PayPal's services really worth all this hassle and effort? What ever happened to the good old fashioned credit card processing companies? You can find some with rates close to PayPal's and you'll get a card swiper machine. You can take the numbers online and enter them yourself. Most also will provide a way for you to take payments online as well. Do this and you can take as much money as you want per day and you never have anyone holding onto your money.

    Paypal very rarely listen to you and will do their own thing. When you complain they will freeze your account and earn interest on your money for 6 months.

    They had to move there operation in Europe, as playing by their own rules was mostly against European legislation.

    I have done deals up to $6k on paypal. So far my account has well over 3000 paypal transactions. I have had very few problems. Those experiencing issues most likely get flagged in order to PROTECT the innocent. There are a lot of scammers and if paypal needs to lock a few accounts to make sure everything is legit then so be it.

    The reason so many use paypal is for that reason. Paypal is not perfect but they are the BEST SOLUTION available. Egold is crap and Moneybookers isn't popular enough.

    I do probably 10-25 transactions a week...rarely any problems.

    How many with problems are outside the USA or don't have a verified account?

    people use paypal to get away with chargebacks. If there is anybody to blame it would be barclays the parent company.

    You are probably speaking about less .01% of the total paypal user base...MOST people use paypal for it's efficiency and protections. It was really setup for real items not virtual ones. When I was selling $5000 a month on Ebay of real items I had no problems when there was chargebacks and I had proof of shipping to verified address.

    Virtual items are the only "risky" things to sell or buy with Paypal. But in all honesty that stuff doesn't actually force someone to lose money most of the time.

    What i hate about PayPal is their unwillingness to protect "virtual" content providers..

    I run a website/forum with a premium (paid) content area which is only accessible via paid PayPal subscription. All someone has to do is create create a paid paypal subscription, go into the restricted content area, copy & paste everything they want, then reverse the charge on their creditcard bill or file a paypal dispute and say "it's a scam, they didnt do what they promised", and PayPal will knee-jerk the money out of my account back to the buyer.. and oh, if the buyer paid via credit-card, PayPal charges me an additional $10 for the fee reversal.

    but, i have no choice but to use PayPal because of their monopoly grip on the online payment processing world..

    It's already been said in this thread, but if you cause them enough hassle, they will give you your money.

    As long as yo don't give up, you'll get your money back.

    There is no point suing PayPal. It would probably cost you even more money (& hassle) in the long run.

    When you signed up you would have accepted the User Agreement which includes:

    3.4 Funding Source Limitations. In order to manage risk, PayPal may limit the Funding Sources available for a transaction. If we limit the Funding Sources, we will alert you that there is a higher-than-normal level of risk associated with the payment. Such a notice does not mean that either party to the transaction is acting in a dishonest or fraudulent manner. It means there may be a higher-than-normal level of risk associated with the transaction. You may choose to continue with the transaction with the understanding that you may have fewer avenues available for dispute resolution should the transaction turn out to be unsatisfactory.

    10.2 Actions by PayPal.
    The actions we may take include but are not limited to the following:
      1. We may close, suspend, or limit your access to your Account or the Services (such as limiting access to any of your Funding Sources, and your ability to send money, make withdrawals, or remove financial Information);
      2. We may contact buyers who have purchased goods or services from you, contact your bank or credit card issuer, and warn other Users, law enforcement, or impacted third parties of your actions;
      3. We may update inaccurate Information you provided us;
      4. We may refuse to provide our Services to you in the future;
      5. We may hold your funds for up to 180 Days if reasonably needed to protect against the risk of liability; and
      6. We may take legal action against you.
      PayPal, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to terminate this Agreement, access to its website, or access to the Service for any reason and at any time upon notice to you and payment to you of any unrestricted funds held in custody for you.
    So PayPal would simply say that you agreed to this when you signed up and you understood it's terms.

    This is really weird... Very sad to hear this... PP also made all 3 a/c's of my family Limited :( and after giving them documents they opened the a/c after 3 days :( and my transactions were petty transactions in front of yours... I don't understand what they suspected in my a/c as my transactions were all below 200$ and hardly a transaction a week... Why will a scammer do so small transactions ??? they should have a little common sense before making a a/c limited.. I think we cant sue them for this as we have accepted all their T&C :( as we did not have any other option other than accepting it :(

    I agree. Paypal has gone downhill. They have so much money and get so much business they can afford to blow anyone off they please. I think it's time for some fresh meat to come into town and blow them to hell. I assure you if some competition were to take over much of their operation their terms and agreements would change and they'd even go back to allowing transactions for porn related material.

    well said. Only do business with verified paypal. I heard some ppl are using virtual verified paypal that is dangerous to both sides.

    I don't like Paypal but seems can't avoid it.

    I've used paypal for years, with 1 account set a different business up and now I get an email telling me I cant have an account in a business name - guess what...it's a business account!

    They have limited it, telling me it should have my name and address on their, but I get no response when I tell them I want it to portray a professional online business.

    I may as well, run at the wall with my head!

    I have doing business with paypal for probably close to 10 years and I can say I have yet to have an issue.

    I have been selling online items the entire time/subscriptions etc.

    My question is what is going on to cause capping or problems?

    What are the reasons they are giving you guys?

    I even had invested in their money market and did better then some of my CD's over the last 5+ years hahaha
