Sorry I have been delinquent with updates. I will try to catch up on a TON of news this weekend. But in the meantime, Dr. Paul has been all over the country, and still finding time to hit Washington DC. I believe he is in Texas tonight at home, doing laundry and mundane household stuff before heading out again. Here is what happened in Denver Colorado. A Quixotic Quest to Be a Ron Paul Delegate from Queens http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/02/02/a-quixotic-quest-to-be-a-ron-paul-delegate-from-queens/ Excerpt ----- Romney Ahead In Caucus Voting In Maine http://www.wmtw.com/politics/15202138/detail.html?taf=port Mitt Romney is holding on to his lead in presidential preference voting among Maine Republicans as returns from caucuses are being counted. The former Massachusetts governor has 53 percent of the vote with 12 percent of the towns holding caucuses reporting. Trailing are Ron Paul with 21 percent, John McCain with 18 percent, and Mike Huckabee with 5 percent. Undecided votes account for 2 percent. As you can see, Romney is cleaning up in the Presidential Preference Straw Poll. But, he's almost running neck and neck with Paul in delegates based upon first hand reports. And several Romney delegates have Paul listed as a second choice.[/] Here are the delegate results from RonPaulForums http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=109562 ----- Ron Paul Gains Endorsements from Montana's Conservative Legislators Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has announced endorsements from the most consistent conservatives in the Montana Legislator leading up to the Republican Presidential Caucus on February 5. By a country mile. No surprise, this money was raised by you and me, by regular members of the military, not by corporate special interests, defense contractors or big money fat cats. ----- Ron Paul's New Book An Instant Bestseller? http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/019088.html ----- The American Conservative Magazine has endorsed Ron Paul http://www.amconmag.com/2008/2008_02_11/feature.html Excerpt ----- Terry Jeffrey (Human Events Editor) defends Ron Paul on MSNBC's Hardball http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Olfc33td05w -----
Who is Murray Sabrin? He's a life long friend of Ron Paul's, a Ron Paul Republican running for Senator of New Jersey, and a Professor of Finance. Here he is stumping in Bergen County NJ, an event that saw Ron Paul take the local straw poll 52-40-26-1 over McCain, Romney and Huckabee. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UmloI5LumA There are a LOAD of Ron Paul Republicans, running for state seats, federal seats and local party positions. As the Doc would say, "The Revolution is alive and well". If you'd be interested in voting or campaigning for a Ron Paul Republican in your area, PM me and I will try to hook you up with the contact info for the relevant campaign.
I don't know about ya'll, but there's a Ron Paul ad on TV here every other 5 minutes. And most of them are NOT paid for by the Ron Paul campaign.
A lot of people are just turning up and becoming delegates by default because no one else turns up to become a delegate. Surely there should be equal focus on getting more people to become delegates? Most people don't understand this process and it would be far better if they did.
There has been for months now. But it's hard getting people motivated to actually do something. Sad, isn't it? We go to Iraq and Afghanistan to promote democracy, and most people here don't even understand how our Republic works.
I have to ask a question. Do you believe Dr. Paul would be able to avert Global Recession if he wins?
No. I don't believe anyone can. But I do believe he can bring to a quick end, with as little pain as possible.
I think he can keep the U.S. out of a recession if he can cut a trillion dollars of spending and give it back to the people. The world? Well the world would so better with the US consumer having more of their own income to invest and buy. I think the U.S. may not even be hit all that much if Paul can do what we all know is right.
I think people genuinely don't understand and would do so if they did. There are enthusiastic Ron Paul fans who have been following the guy for months who still don't understand this process. There needs to be more optimized landing pages for converting Ron Paul fans into delegates. Is there much more time left for this?
Basically, no. Tomorrow is Super Tuesday. Myself and many others have been beating this drum for months, but it's now far too late to do much but coalesce around regional leaders, and fill empty slots on demand. That's what is happening in Maine right now, as precinct leaders are filling empty slots to the state convention. Unfortunately, this campaign has run 3 months behind the actual pace needed to generate an "obvious" upset. Now it is all stealth and hustle. Still need as many people as possible to register Republican, participate in their local party chapters, and show up to vote. Not just vote, but in Caucus states like Minnesota, bring family and friends to vote as well, and stay through to the delegate selections. Regardless of how this turns out, the movement is going to be a major player in 2010, and 2012.
I think you'd possibly have to come up with another candidate by 2010 and 2012 due to the age factor. A few years back I thought that the US probably wouldn't reach an Argentina 99 - 01 scenario but this seems quite possible now that bank reserves have gone negative. You could see a big drop in the share market sometime within the next month and some more bank runs. http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2008/01/bank-reserves-go-negative.html This whole CDO, swaps, sub prime mess is insidious and will effect banks worldwide and even effect local governments. It's a lot worse than banks have let on. Massachusetts state authorities on Friday charged Merrill Lynch and Co., Inc. with fraud and misrepresentation related to about $14 million worth of subprime securities it sold to the city of Springfield. In that situation Argentina went through a few different presidents in a few different months. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_economic_crisis_(1999-2002) This whole movement has been fascinating and I wonder if it could gain traction in Canada, Australia, UK, and New Zealand with other types of political parties. All of these countries have the same problem with retiring baby boomers and a lot of young people see the writing on the wall. Although Canada and New Zealand do not have the same debt problems all of these countries also had a massive housing bubble. Australia and UK have also had additional debt problem due to the war.
Plans are underway for that. I believe it will. Endurance is the key. The most worrisome thing, is that if there is another domestic crisis in the US, we will have martial law. Troops and Blackwater were used in New Orleans to round people up, put them into detention centers, and take away their weapons. The best way to affect change, if you are inclined to the left or the right, is to join the two parties, and start supporting the worthwhile candidates when they run. Surely no one in their right mind believes that John McCain or Hillary Clinton are the best that America has to offer. But peaceful change has to come from within. People have to understand the process, and they have to become engaged in it, without getting discouraged or impatient. It's taken generations to get to this point, it will take time to roll the nonsense back to some sensible pro-liberty ideas.
It's frankly amazing that they're in the running. People have been conditioned to worship celebrities and Hillary Clinton is a celebrity. Potentially you have 28 years of Bush and Clinton's - practically royal families. Royals are like the uber-celebrity. Once people worship celebrity all you need to do is put in place a celebrity puppet to do your bidding. The scary thing is Acts equivalent to the Patriot Act were enacted in virtually all western countries simultaneously. In Australia and New Zealand people have been detained, some without charge, due to these Acts. In New Zealand people have been arrested under the pretence of terrorism for completely unrelated political matters. Like central banks, these Acts were a worldwide phenomenon and one has to wonder if they were not all coordinated? These are troubling times.
Of course they have been. Much of the world's population is too dumbed down to know about their own country, let alone others, and be able to place global events into context. That require consistent, principled self-leadership to see our way through.
