Social Networking Sites

I am thinking of starting a social networking site on a very specific area, yet a good following.

Has anybody had experience with social networking sites? Does anybody know of easy (and cheap) was to get code for at least starting such a site?

 

i guess its a big task as there' r big competitors on the way like orkut & face pic so i think its useless to spent time & buks on social networking sites.

another good alternatif for social networking is pligg script.

 

pligg is certinly nice, but its better to have custom script.

There are many big competitors such as bebo and facebook though worth billions of $$

 

I would check out places like Elance and get someone professional to get the job done for you..
