    Google wasn't put up for sale (and if it was put up for sale, someone would have already bought it). It was incorporated in 1998, far from mid-1990s.

    To me it seems like one of those stories to make people go wow!

    When Google became Google they had a few thousand worth of hardware, and a few years working on backrub so i can hardly see them selling it for $100

    Google went to venture capitalists when they needed money and received $100 000 from two firms; I can't see the site ever being for sale for $100 with that kind of investment behind it.
