Google wasn't put up for sale (and if it was put up for sale, someone would have already bought it). It was incorporated in 1998, far from mid-1990s.

 

Yeah i remember that, pity the engine wasn't functional so i could check my rankings back in 1998.

That wouldn't have mattered anyways, unless you were to do everything that Google has done up to this point.

 

To me it seems like one of those stories to make people go wow!

When Google became Google they had a few thousand worth of hardware, and a few years working on backrub so i can hardly see them selling it for $100

google stock OPENED at $90/share in 2004. google itself was never a $100 site.

I don't think it was beiing sold later for 100$

 

Google went to venture capitalists when they needed money and received $100 000 from two firms; I can't see the site ever being for sale for $100 with that kind of investment behind it.

 

No one would have purchased the domain since, at that time, we did not know the potential of Google.
