Question about using a Link Keyword TEXT Is there a limit to how many links you can have with the same anchor text? For instance if the link was : Sports News Can you use "Sports News" for the anchor text as many times as you want? Can you guys help clear this up. Thanks, -C
I am not quiet sure about your question, but I am very sure that no one can restrict you on what to do with your site and what anchor text you can use to link to other pages or external sites. So if you feel the need of using that anchor text in a link (internal or external) then use it.
Yes you can, but If you want to rank with more than one page for the same keyword I would advice you to pick 2 of those pages (if they are under the same domain/folder) since in the SERPs you can have maximum of 2 indent listings (in other words, it is worthless to spend your time trying to optimize more than 2 pages for the same keyword). While if the anchor is for the use to link on external sites, feel free to use as many as you want.
Indent listing in other words is to appear two pages from the same website for the same search query (keyword) in the SERPs of search engines. Example of the first two results, the main one is the first result and the indent listing is the second result (Inner Page Title Optimization).
Yes, thats indent listing. And, you can get multiple subpages to show up next to your homepage which are called "sitelinks" on Google.
i did this before and ranked #1-2 with MSN/Yahoo......I was dropped off the whole list within 2-3 days. I went and changed most of the links...within a few days I was back on top. I believe it's called 'backlink' spamming when you use the same keyword over and over again! Make sure to use it naturally, and with different keywords. basketball sport news baseball sport news news about sports current sports news sports news highlights Live sports news As a sports fanatic...one of the keywords that stands out to me is 'live' 'highlights' 'current' 'updated' There's a lot of sites that dont even anchor for the keyword, and still rank high for it. The secrets of Google...probably more secret than the blueprints for a nuclear weapon!
You guys are great , thanks! So if im perfectly clear , it would be BEST to use differnt VARIATIONS of your "Keyword" Is this correct?
Yep, although there isn't as much weight given (in regards of the anchor text/keyword(s), not the link value itself) to "sports news" when you link via "latest sports news online". I'd not always use variations, when optimizing for "sports news" you should use the exact anchor text, too, from my experience going for half exact, half variations is a safe and effective way.
there's nothing wrong placing the same text over and over again IF you dont do it all at once. if you do 1 link per every few days then you should be fine. if you do one everyday or a few everyday then the search engines will pick up your spamming.
It would be better if you use different variations of your targeted keywords. Don't concentrate on one keywords only.
