Google Checkout vs PayPal

Which do you think has the most kudos in the eyes of customers?

If you use both on your ecommerce site, which is the most used?

I'm thinking of offering both on my site and the user being able to choose which to use, what are your thoughts on the GCheckout vs PayPal debate?

More people have Paypal accounts because they need them for ebay.
Google Checkout has some nice features, but it's got a long way to go to be a serious rival to Paypal. Also I think at the moment it's only available for U.S. and U.K customers.
I'd say it's worth offering both , and Google offers some benefits to the retailer - such as linking and giving preference to google base/product seach listings - but many more people use Paypal.

What do you think is the easiest way to offer both on a shopping system?

Easiest way to implement both is to get some sort of shopping cart system that has modules for Paypal and google. Something like OsCommerce,Zen or Xcart etc

a lot more people are using paypal at the moment anyway. this is largely to do with the fact it has been around a long time and also because it is owned by ebay.

there are a lot of people who do not like paypal however. i've had my account frozen a few times for no good reason. :(

Well I've managed to add Google Checkout to my shopping cart system. Integration was easy! Much better system than paypal's web payments IPN system. I far prefer sending XML about the place... ;)

Yes, there is no reason to have one or the other.

We are in the process of having Google Checkout made available for clients.

Google Checkout has many benefits for adwords customers too.

Google checkout will put their badge next to your listings in Froogle so people can pick you out easier plug its cheaper. I do not know how much it is now but when GC had payments free it was alot cheaper then paypal. paypal changed alot plus i had how they put your money in reseve. its not doing me anywell if it is in reserve!

google checkout would be huge if they would allow it on ebay but no of course not ebay is bs and if you use the words google checkout in your auction, it will be taken down, because there greedy bastards and there shady!!! I cant stand paypal but intill google gets there buts a auction site, ebay and paypal will be on top! and to the guy above that had his paypal frozen, paypal always freezes peoples account for nothing! there stupid and i have read alot of horror stories on paypalsucks.com :) But I still use paypal, yuck!!!

I agree. I think paypal will always be the best. Google is just trying to find as many ways to tap into various internet markets as possible.

At least with PayPal you get your seller/buyer protection.

There both bad. I lost 100's of $ from each due to scammers. I perfer Paypal as they have less fraud orders however I dont like them assuming because an order is a few thousand dollars its automaticaly fraud.

Most of your visitors will already have a PayPal account even though the Google name is highly respected. I'd go with both? Options are always nice!

I so agree with what he said, they act called me asking what I was selling, what bs its like dude mind your own business and be happy that im using your services and kletting you rape me with fees!!!!

(At least with PayPal you get your seller/buyer protection )

I def dont call that protection, i call that bs and the only person protecting you is if your using a cc! you want real protection then get american express card :)
