To all site owner! How long does it take you to make your site profitable??

Wondering how many people here have successfully made a good profit from their site.

    1) From the day you got your site. How long does it take you to get a profit from it?
    2) Are you satisfy with the return compared to the time you spent on it?
    3) How many hrs you spend daily (on average) marketing or SEOing your site?

    Thanks!!

    1) About 6 months
    2) Not really, I do make a profit but not enough for the hours i put in, if it payed myself out by the hour i would definitely not be making a profit and would be bankrupt
    3)3 hrs

    1) Less than a week, usually. If not by then, I drop or sell the site.
    2) Moderately.
    3) Less than one. I'm kind of lazy like that. But I have over twenty that generate a portion of my total income. I try not to focus too much on one site. "Don't put all your eggs in one basket."

It depends on your costs - I out grew my reseller hosting pretty quick then went semi-dedicated and then to dedicated - which all meant increased costs. It's margins that are important but I'm in it for the long game. This means that I'm spending a lot on marketing and traffic. By the time my site is on a cluster of servers I think I'll have a decent business :)

I spend about 3-4 hours per day on my site on average and it's just about breaking-even.

    Cheers, p.

    1) 1 month
    2) Very
    3) 0

The site I am referencing is TrafficPro-X.com , it took me 2 weeks to create and I earned $108 by the end of that month. The following month I made $1,800. I now average $800+ a month from it and spend 5 to 10 minutes a day managing it. It also brings in an average of 60 new members a week solely from the built in affiliate program.

Well, a lot of people expect thousands within a month but realistically you can't get this, but working online is far better than the real world, but it does take patients.

    1) My first site was a bad choice of niche, quality, and I didn't have the correct skills to promote and seo it. It gathered around $3.50 the first month, and close to doubled each month. I've had it for about 14 months now so it's doing well.
My second site was carefully planned out. The domain, SEO, niche, competitors, keywords, etc. Its about 4 months old and makes around $550 based on this month. Next month it should get to $700.
I also have 29 other sites as well but I only hope for a Max. of $20 each per month from them.

    2) The first 6 months I thought to myself "This is never going to work" but then the hard time spend finally did pay off. The greatest thing about it is your effort never goes away. If you get your site to $200 a month, then you can leave the site and the next month it will be $190 or something like that. It's like a snowball that you have to start, but once it's there it stays. Being a webmaster is just awesome, but isn't too easy. A mistake can fry you back to stage one such as gettng banned from google search. Of course I've never had this problem yet.

    3) On average I spend about 5 hours per day on the first 2 months for a site I'm hoping to get good profit from. Once that time has passed then I cut it to 1 hour for 2 months, then I finally almost halt for a couple of months. I'll go back to it and put in 20 hours a in about 8 months. The little sites I run 6 hours then just let them sit and forget about them. I'll go back to them randomly to make a few changes, add something quick, optimize and update the keywords, etc.

    Thats nice John...

    1) First time I build a web site, I got nothing for about 1 year.. Actually I did learning the PHP-MySQL... once i started using ads, I need 3 months to reach 3xx$ a month. the next month it became 4xx$ and still 4xx month since I don;t have enough bandwidth in the third week. :D I upgraded it and get more bandwidth, but something dropped my traffic down to 10% left.... still don't know the causes..
    2) my satisfaction is the knowledge... I'll be more satisfied if I get more money anyway.. LOL
    3) I spent only 1-2 hours to the site I mentioned above, now trying to learn seoing my web. this year, learning seo is one of some points i write in my new year resolution.. hope it work :D

    1. a profit? Maybe in 2-3 weeks because I always start from zero (so one sale is still considered as a profit, isn't it?). After I made a good amount of money from one website, then I started PPC. But if you ask for "real profit", the answer is around 4-6 months.
    2. Of course, yes.
    3. Sometimes only 2 hours, sometimes 4 hours. Depend on various things.

    1) depends on the niche and startup costs, my hosting site, 3 months, my poker site, 6 months, my facebook apps site, 2 months, and so on... so months rather than days or years.
    2) kind of, its a full time job.
    4) 8-10 hours.

    it depends on your idea

my main site i'm focusing on
    1) 2nd month turned a profit
    2) i'm happy but want more
    3) an hour a day?

I have had other sites I worked on for months and just abandoned because of no profit or a profit not big enough - I had to go back to an area I really was knowledgable about before making real money

I have three sites that I've had for around 3-4 months and I've made around $200 from them since then. I don't do any SEO except for one of my sites.

    peace

sorry to break the format, I can't remeber the questions though :D

This mean the success take times... I hate when people with a lot experience say it's easy.. It's not..It takes time to learn, to do quality, to be recognized etc...

I think it depends upon topic of your site.If your site is like blog then it will take much time to earn comparing to other.

Depends on how much infrastructure you have before making your site. My original site wasn't profitable for over a year, now I can create a profitable website within a month spending about 2 hours a day on content and traffic building (SEO, Twitter, etc.)
