Yahoo has been facing straight 8 quarters loss, which is really too long. They might this time seriously think of merger. I read that Msft offered to buy Yahoo 3 times earlier too ...

Problem with Yahoo is they have too many things running and releasing while they havn't even mastered the current project. Google takes many months for new things to come out.

yahoo has so many things and is very complicated.

As far as search goes: 2 craps added together just makes a bigger crap.

But MS & Y are not primarily search based businesses, so if they have something else up their sleeve, good for them.

I think the shareholders must have a meeting and agree to sell yahoo first.

    Hi,
I am a big fan of G.. But i would like Y to be taken by Microsoft rather than G. It would create a strong competition between these two. As G is known to come up with more innovations.. I feel G will need to prove itself, during that course it will bring lots of tools & services for Netizens.

Feel free to share ur comments on my view.

    Regards,

I expect Microsoft to use their financial power and technology to quickly turn Yahoo around, maybe some merging of IDs with Hotmail and also another new launch into their coverted search engine industry which has always eluded them. Google will not stand idly by, it will be an interesting fight, both parties are more or less equal. Microsoft has more money, I find Google more innovative.

If I consider how long it takes for MS to patch a bug, and how long it take to Y to make an improvement on their betas, I'll probably be buried before any change........

I can't foresee Microsoft collapsing, in the worse scenario, Microsoft could just divest or write it off, as what Ebay did for Skype.

It is very strange. Why yahoo do not buy some other famous sites?

    No more ambitions for Yahoo?

I think if Microsoft succeed in getting Yahoo, they would have their hands full on the integration process rather than spread themselves too thinly to acquire Cash Rich Ebay or even Amazon. With Yahoo you are staring at a $40 billion/year advertising pie which is 9% controlled by Yahoo and 80% controlled by Google, Microsoft will do whatever they can to get a bigger wedge of the pie.

I think the deal will go through, Yahoo! is very smart, they have done loads around England, etc.

    Yahoo + BT

Now it'll be Microsoft + BT?

They'll control our Internet and Our OS? WOW?

I hope it would go thru quickly. The US economy is not very good at the moment. maybe with this news it would help ease up the pressure.
