jamesicus, Thanks.... I'm a newbie, I've just built my first site after reading a few books on HTML & CSS. The validator insists I'm using UTF-8, when, in fact, I have the meta info set to charset=iso-8859-1. This is driving me nuts.
Post the URI please -- you cannot post a live link yet -- the form http:// domain name / file.ext will do -- spaces can be removed when entering it in the address bar. James
Your meta tag isn't the end-all say-all. You can put charset=Bob'sbutt, but the validator (like a browser) is truly looking at what the hosting server is saying in the HTTP headers. So, there may be a mismatch between either the meta tag and how your programme saved the file (when you first save your file, it should be asking you how (what charset) you want to save it to) OR a mismatch between your meta tag/saved file type and the server's HTTP header. Also, if nothing says anything either way, the validator often defaults to utf-8. One thing you could possibly do is change your charset meta tag to utf-8 (same characters really so you shouldn't see a difference) and save the file as such and resubmit and see what the validator pukes at then. Though I think James knows more about this than I do...
On line 33 you have an incorrect copyright symbol -- change it to © -- your page will validate. James
On the index page? I'm using Homesite and did an extended find, plus I have the line gutter enabled. I also did an extended search and all the © entities are all correct.
Using the URI you provided .......... I don't know anything about Homesite -- that symbol was rejected by the Validator -- change it by hand and the page will validate. James
