awwww. I have a poodle. He needs to be shaved and styled every 2 weeks. Of Course I can't bother to "style" him. Plus he's a boy.
Butt cuts are about all we can handle. I hold my wife trims. I do admire the groomer who comes and does such a nice job.
If you have good clippers with sharp blades, and if the fur isn't too matted, and the dog co-operates... well it's not too hard. But, if it's like my dog... forget it! She won't stand still and carries on like she's being tortured. I gave up on my last attempt and we're now going to take her to the dog groomers for a "shearing". We need to have it done because she has very long thick fur (she's a Samoyed) which gets matted easily, picks up heaps of horrible prickles, and she's as bad about being brushed... which means she basically won't let us do it. Also, it gets pretty hot in summer here for a dog with all that "wool"!
Yeah, mine is crazy too, wont stay put, someone just holds him up in the air while someone else shaves his back and legs. His neck is the hardest part. I have a good fast razor for dogs and since it gets done so fast he's starting to be more cooperative.
We shave our three dogs during the summer due to such high of temperatures, it regularly gets about 110 F during the day here during the summer so if they had their 'hair' then they would sweat and get a really bad odor. Dog Picture
Dogs don't sweat. They can't. They don't have the sweat glands and volatilize water through their tongue.
