A customer wants to pay us using moneybookers, but some don't consider it to be such a good idea, and that we should simply stick to PayPal. Does anyone know if moneybookers is a scammerspoint and would be a smart choice to start accepting payments. Also if anyone can point to the merchant fees?
Accepting multiple gateways is quite good for business. Moneybookers is being screwed up these days, i agree. Though, for the customers sake, i do think you should accept at least 4 payment gateways: Paypal,Moneybookers,Egold and 2Checkout. These 4 gateways can easily let anyone pay for you other than bank transfer or wire transfer.
I would stick to PayPal, moneybookers might work but is it really worth risking it to provide support for one customer?
Well we accept 2Checkout and PayPal, but we just haven't heard such great reviews of MoneyBookers from the merchants point-of-view...
I agree, there isn't much review to accept Moneybookers for hosting, though, as moneybookers and egold support most of the countries which are not being supported by Paypal, for that reason, you might consider taking it. For some 3rd world countries, moneybookers is really a good mode to pay.
I have a Moneybookers account for several months now and I cannot find someone I can pay using that platform. For the vendor, Moneybookers is great since you do not quite deal with credit cards and all fund transfers are final. However because Moneybookers isn't liquid currency like the case of Paypal, it is a little troublesome to fund the account from the customer's perspective as they need to load the account with money from a wire transfer, ACH or credit card before they can buy anything and it cost the customer money to load and send money but free for the vendor. Since starting a moneybookers account is free, I do not see a problem is providing the option since you may gain some customers who are trying ways and means to spend their money.
Clearly Moneybookers is a strong and old established firm in France which is much more protective of consumers than US so your fund is much more secure than with Paypal. It astonished me that people didn't more consider it as good alternatives to paypal. Paypal needs a competitor like Google needs one or we risk monopoly. And it's up to you.
ive used MB for over a year and had one problem... I cant seem to reach the monthly limit of $25k. I had one issue with a transfer not hitting my account in 2 days, so on day 5, I contacted them and within the next day I had my funds. The largest transfer I had was over $1200 and cost me $2.75 to send and reached me in 3 days. I prefer MB over PP any day. Fees are ALOT lower.
Well.. for one, there are lots of customers out there that only pay with moneybookers, so they have probably visited the site, saw they don't accept moneybookers and found another site.

Well, of course fees are lower for the seller since much of it are paid for by the buyer when they fund their account and when they pay you. Receiving funds are generally free. They would need to pay about 1.9% when they fund their account with their credit card and probably tons more if they use wire transfer which they pay their banks. Then when they pay you, they would need to pay 1% fees or EUR 0.50. In the end, the customers would feel they are paying more since they need to bare the fees. Seller merely pays EUR 1.80 to withdraw.
Yes, it does have a recursive payment option. When you pay with Moneybookers, you can check the 'Scheduled / recurring payments (monthly rent, standing order...) ' option. See http://www.moneybookers.com/app/faq.pl?gid=2&qid=207
That I am not sure. Like I said, I signed up for a Moneybookers account and loaded a little over a dollar to it and still cannot find a place to spend my money. It is probably best to write to Moneybookers about it.
I think Moneybookers is even better than Paypal. If only more people used it. There are people from countries that cannot use Paypal, so they use Moneybookers and if I'm right the only domain registrar that accepts MB payments is Dynadot - I also registered some domains with them and paid via Moneybookers. So if you can be another one who accepts Moneybookers, you could make some sales to people who need hosting, but have no Paypal accounts.
I used paypal for years with far to many issues and lost revenue from PP scammers. Never had one issue in 2 years at moneybookers. EVER!! Give them a try plus prices are nice. Good luck.
why r you waiting adding multiple payment service is good for you and mooneybookers is a reputed company and widely used in uk/europe
for me I like MB the accounts works fine, thats why I am not accepting any payments from weired accounts. thats how you will keep ur account alive.
