I was looking to make a website that will require a massive amount of space. I am writing this thread to ask people if it is good to buy hosting from Hostmonster. They offer 1.5 Terabytes and they give a free domain name registration, but the offer has only $5.95 for 24 months! Is this a scam? There seems to be a catch. Please help me. I need a site that has atleast 1 TB of hosting space. Thank you to anyone who can provide answers.
The disk space won't be an issue but with any shared host the amount of CPU you use on a shared server is something to think about. If your having 1,000 of visitors per day accessing huge files (video) then you might want to consider a VPS or dedicated host. What kind of site are you developing?
I agree, if you're planning on having a big site, you should invest in dedicated hosting and your own server. Best of luck!
I am about to make a large site, and it will most likely have over 1000 members a day, and their will be videos, email accounts, and image hosting. Should I go with hostmonster or what?
HostMonster isn't that great when it comes to performance for middle to larger sites. I had to move one site off their servers because it would barely load during busy times. Consider a VPS or dedicated server if you are serious about your site and expect a lot of activity.
Not for a site like that. You would probably need a dedicated server. www.hostgator.com are good for dedi's
I'm a big fan of HostMonster, they're my favorite web host. But I don't host any sites as large as that.
i would vote for hostmonster as well. they are good, i have sites with 10K hits /month with them and no problem at all
hostmonster is awesome! but as above, you need a dedi server for a site of that size and this may not apply to you but hostmonster does not allow pr0n
Referring to my previous post and your response you probably should consider a VPS or Dedicated Server rather than a shared plan with the site you are planning on starting up. I don't know what your budget is but for dedicated solutions I recommend you look into HostGator, ServerBeach, and Lunarpages.
Even though the offering is quite oversell, but I do not think the company will disappear overnight, they have very strong customer base. So should be ok to be with.
Hostmonster was one of the very first hosts I ever used. There support could have been better in my opinon
At such prices, I do not expect much support, I mean it is value for money no frills no trills company
Okay. So so far I have heard people say that they really love hostmonster, whereas some say that hostmonster has bad service but ok site, and some really hate hostmonster saying it has disgusting service and lacking dedication.
