Agreed - i am kind of hoping if this does go ahead - they will leave Yahoo to it hopefully - in my opinion yahoo has a better search which is one of the reasons they want to buy yahoo

Yes indeed, that is a lot of money! I hope they give Google some serious competition, just because I think competition is a good thing.

I sincerely hope that, if Yahoo is bought out, it is by Microsoft. I don't want to see a monopoly (more than it already is). I don't know that Microsoft buying out Yahoo will be enough. I think Microsoft is too slow to move and not innovative enough to be competitive.

I think if Google buys Yahoo, it would mean the end of Yahoo.

The merger dance: Microsoft or Google+Yahoo?

I think with Microsoft recently acquiring FAST search and if they acquire Yahoo! (which owns AlltheWeb, Yahoo! and AltaVista) we may finally have a company that is really ready compete with Google. While I hate to lose Yahoo as an independent company, I would love to see someone give Google a run for their money.

I think that Microsoft play with this idea longer time. It is also reason, why MSN looks like now. That means with poor support. Now I think Microsoft move its interest and employees from MSN to Yahoo and try to create some mutant from these 2 search engines. There will be big changes in internet world. But Google still remains as winner, and only gain stronger competitor.

If you spent $44.6 Billion on a brand, would you change the name?

I couldn't agree more. It seems like half the members of DP are in bed with Google (literally:D). They are like "you cannot beat Google" "Google will never die". Seriously the day people start thinking like that is the day they cease to be webmasters. Because innovatioin and the drive to beat the guys on top is what drives the web.

If they ditch YPN, I'll be OK. If they mess with Y! search, I'm in big trouble.

It would be a good idea to have a public poll how many of us are pro and against the sale ;)

That's because most DP'ers are running ad_sen-se on their sites.
