One of those words that is thrown around by nate like it means something and used by many as a bad word, how about define it the way you see it. Seriously, those of you who have used the term in your everyday speech or written it on forums, give me your take on the word. Please include whether or not it is another word for Jew or zionist in your description, since there seems to be a relation here for some. I am calling out nate since he says he was a neocon and he started a threads to get answers from neocons. Neocons are anthonycea's best friends!
let's put this difficult puzzle together shall we? neo = new con = short for conservative we now have "new conservative" or "modern conservative" i'm sure you are well aware that parties trade principles throughout history, many true republican conservatives today were once democrats in the "good ol' days". This is different however with a political ideology and somehow an entire nation has been tricked into perverting it. so what do neocons stand for? nothing conservative, that's for sure. let's take a look at one of my friends who says he knows a bit about politics. he tells me i'm a stupidhead and know nothing about anything because I support Paul, go figure. that's the first sign on a neocon, abrupt ignorance and aggression. I ask him about taxes and why the top bracket of income earners should be taxed 33% just on their income.. he replies, "yeah i'm fine with that, things could be worse with liberals in office!". We also see no respect for history and a constant desire to be led like a sheep. Whatever your party gives you, you take and will not object to anything, as long as it's not those "dirty democrats!" After a long discussion with him I ask, "so what is conservative about you? what are you low government on?" he replies, "I just can't stand liberals with their gay rights shit." So what is a neocon? A social conservative at best. However their intent is to get things done at the federal level, so they are very much not the conservative that advocates "state's rights". They simply hate liberals, democrats or anyone or anything that starts with a D. What they don't even realize is, you don't beat big government with big government, that's like fighting hate with hate. You fight hate with love, you fight lies with truth, you change the world by putting your beliefs into them, not your human shepherds. Neocons are also famous for their recently pro-war stance, which is the absolute opposite of their former principles. Somehow they have been fooled into thinking that anyone with a different perspective than their own is "un-patriotic", which is absolutely absurd. That is a tyrannical perspective and anyone with an intellect of history knows this is the cause of wars, dictatorships, genocide, etc. How do neocons come about? They are the product of an also blinded generation of parents who raise their family on red vs. blue team politics without any knowledge of the political landscape. They are sheep. Murdoch owns them.
At least someone is making an attempt to understand what it is. Look up Leo Strauss and you can see a short summary here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neoconservatism Also might want to look into Marxism, Trostkyism and liberalism. Seek and you shall find. Also spend some time and watch this BBC documentary just for a perspective that ties it all together. http://www.stage6.com/user/SenorMiguel/video/1091632/Politics-of-Fear-Pt1---Baby-It's-Cold-Outside
I was going to say no wikipedia link, darn it I knew I should have. Nate read my post and answered it accordingly, I think he copy/pasted the first part but he gave his personal attention to his answer. And because of his view of a neocon I could easily say I am not one according to his description, yet he basically had called me one in his thread about neocons. guru, how about you give an answer not a link? What makes a neocon in your eyes? I am guessing it is too late now, since you will have to form your opinion around wiki.
Why don't you just watch the documentary in the link I gave you instead? That pretty much sums it up what the definition of a neoconservative is in their own words. And that would be my definition as well. Will a New York times source be any more valid? http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/25/books/review/25alter.html How about a simple google search? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1B2GGFB_enUS250&q=neocons+leo+strauss&btnG=Search How about what would YOUR definition be? P.S. You need to open your mind and put whatever personal views against some of us here aside and just educate yourself for your own sake. You're in for a rude awakening.
where did you suspect I copied and paste? those were all my words "my friend" (john mccain) also, i don't remember calling you a neocon but i may have. when i'm in an irrational argument (usually with gtech) i'll give them some of their own medicine and stereotype.
I consider it a name given to an individual who allows their faith to drive their decisions at the voting booth. I consider it to be about as simple as that. People who favor the Democratic party often refer to anyone who disagree with them on a political level or favor someone of the Republican party a neocon. They felt the need to have a name for them since the Republicans gave them the "liberal" tag. It simply evens it out now.
You are coming into this conversation with a preconceived view of me by labeling me. You don't even have a clue. Your conspiracies don't actual include me in any way shape or form. So, maybe if you opened your mind a little you could see this. I am seriously asking what a persons view of the word means. Too you it may mean Jew (err umm zionist) to others it just means non-liberal. The word is used towards anyone who doesn't agree with the liberal point of view. So to have all the RP supporters who say they are conservatives throw the word around it really gets confusing to say the least.
You need some serious deprogramming, just do the research for your won self and stop putting words in my mouth. I just gave you some pretty solid sources, they are not conspiracies, they are FACTS! What would you like the neocons to be in your view?
The very first part sounded like something I had read before, but searching google it comes up with your answer at (19 mins ago) pretty cool. In your thread about wanting answers from neocons you were trying to get me to answer your question. If I am not mistaken you are under 20 y.o. and now you say you were a neocon and no longer. Can you explain what you mean?
I wasn't saying any link in this thread was a conspiracy. Please reread my post. EDIT: saw you added your stage6 link after I already replied. ....
Neo Conservative. The conservative coalition is made up of Fiscons (Fiscal Conservatives), Socons (Social Conservatives), Paleocons (Paleo Conservatives), Neocons (Neo Conservatives) and Evangelicals. Neocons are former liberals who defected to the Republican Party because they were frustrated with the Democratic party. Reagan and Goldwater were Neos, but they ran as classic liberals (which is compatible with the GOP platform, closer to Thomas Jefferson than Abraham Lincoln). However, most neos today are neoliberals. They are Woodrow Wilson, Hamiltonian Federalists. They favor Trotsky's idea of a global revolution, they think and work beyond national borders, and have a singular vision for the world. America is merely their economic and military vehicle. Since the Democratic party is mostly run by NeoLibs, and the Republican by NeoCons, we have centrist leaders. They share a similar set of values and agendas, but a different way of approaching them. Neocon is a pejorative when used by paleos and fiscons. I'm pretty sure that with the recent sellout of Huckabee, the evangelics and socons are not far behind, and this is why so many high profile Conservatives have said that Bush has fragmented and destroyed the Republican party. It was always a coalition, and Bush ran in 2000 (when I supported him) on a platform that was Reagan-esque. But what happened with a GOP Executive and Congress was much closer to what the Democrats would do. Big spending, nation building, policing the world, acting as foot soldiers for the UN, growth in entitlements, bureaucracy and attempting to legislate morality. So if I call someone a neo, I don't care if they are evangelical, atheist, jewish, catholic or whatever. I'm talking strictly about their agenda, one that is not compatible with classic conservatism, of limited government, and cautious foreign policy.
Personal attacks and speculation wont get you very far in life, it still does not fix the underlying problem which is your arrogance and close mindedness. You are making this personal whereas I was merely pointing to some sources for you to do your OWN research despite the source of who pointed you to the sources. If my screen name was different would you have responded with the same condescending tone? You need to scan and read all sources, valid or not and screen them and sort them and draw your own conclusions, otherwise if you already have an idea and are not willing to listen to others than I don't know what to tell you. Maybe you would be best moving in with Gtech and Mia.
in that thread i just wanted an answer from someone, it wasn't directed at you. I'm 17, i've been involved in politics since i was born. i was a fred thompson neocon for about a year before i made the switch, which was in late october. i didn't really have a clear cut foundation of what i believed in, but i didn't trust government, had little tolerance for liberals and supported the 'war on terrorism'. but i am a very open minded person, i wouldn't be alive if i wasn't. i'd probably be in a hospital with tubes in my stomach feeding and enslaving me like everyone else. i know the underdog position in life, knowing something that others don't, then standing for it and being made look ridiculous (health). so when i saw Paul speak i immediately listened because when you get that ignorant reaction then you know there's some truth people are afraid of hearing. i also look at things from the producers point of view, not the consumers. that's why i don't go to the movies or watch tv much, because it's lame and has no substance. it's aimed at weak-minded people who are attracted to shiny things. that's just the way i am. so i researched him, got back into politics, shed the apathy and studied it all for about a week. until i finally decided i had it wrong the whole time and that Constitutional libertarianism was the foundation i believe in most. i now look to bigger matters like international policies that involve the UN. and involve you. as i look through the "producer's scope", i don't see a bright future for the international consumer. and the more i learn, the more i realize it is imperative we continue this Ron Paul/ Liberty movement.
Dude you are so far off I don't even know what to say???? Are you responding to my post to nate? I asked nate those questions not you. Arrogant and closed minded does describe you very well, I doubt anyone would argue that point. I asked for a personal view of neocon and why people use the word the way they do. Others have responded accordingly, you however are too stubborn to realize this. So, can you point to a personal attack? If so, click the triangle in the upper corner of YOUR post.
Thank you Nate, I totally respect your answer here. Politics has a moving relationship to it. So don't pin yourself to a particular group or name. You will find yourself caught like so many, afraid to admit they don't agree anymore with their "groups" views. Stay flexible and teachable. And from what I can see in you politics don't rule your world, keep it that way, there are many more important things in life. So, you have had some major health issues, could you talk about that some in a new thread or do you have a blog about it?
thanks. i consider all perspectives. in fact, as pro-free market as i am, i can also see Karl Marx's viewpoint as valid. but i haven't read enough to say that for a fact. i don't know all of your political beliefs but i know you to be more rational than the others. lol as far as my health goes, i'm not sure too many people would care if i made a thread on that. i haven't made a blog on that. i could explain it here if you like?
