Which is why you are here and not working in investment. You're making a fundamental error in your statement as it assumes that the value will remain static and not increase, which it will most likely do.
Definatly not the Google killer. The fact is, google is already so established, and to the everyday consumer, google > live/yahoo even if microsoft and yahoo have better algorithms for their search engines.
Feb. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Microsoft Corp., the world's biggest software maker, made an unsolicited $44.6 billion offer for Yahoo! Inc. to challenge Google Inc.'s dominance in Internet search services and advertising. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aDjzDHqw48dA&refer=home Google actually may have enough money to make a bid - imagine if they bought YHOO??
As much as I hate Yahoo, I'd hate to see the sites they own get destroyed my Microsoft (flickr, upcoming, delicious, etc...)
Well its not a done deal as of yet. The LA Times got a statement from Yahoo themselves. Press Release in the LA Times
Its not a done deal yet. Its just an unsolicited offer. I posted this info in the other thread that is in the Yahoo topic area. Yahoo gave the LA Times a press release today saying they will consider the unsolicited offer. And it also has go through some kind of federal approval even if Yahoo accepts microsofts unsolicited offer.
Yahoo's stock is getting killed, I saw on the news that Microsoft was offering $32 a share for a complete buyout.. That would certainly be interesting for all the SEO's out there.
I agree. Talk about a Monopoly. I would rather have Google than Microsoft controlling the internet Better the devil you know..........
I hate the fact that so many web masters believe Microsoft is their enemy and Google their friend. Seriously guys Google is no more your friend than Microsoft. Wake up. Its just whoever can get the most customers. So please find other issues to bash Microsoft than this cheap shot about them not caring about webmasters......most of us on this forum don't really care if another succeeds unless it means moolah for us....much less a big company.
i was just thinking.,. when both merge... their competitive baby be called as microyah! or microhoo or may be yamicro.. any other possibility to beat the name game...
Google can be beat, just got to make a relevant search engine, I think this is where MSN and Yahoo mess uppp....algorithium is weird and spider activity is low, unless you link to pages with Yahoo
If you are a domainer, better start buying up them domains just in case than. Money to be had by all.
Thank you for a sane reply. Whenever I see the people on DP gush about Google and how everything else is crap, I cringe. They think like users, rather than webmasters. We need more competition to Google, as in the end it benefits us as webmasters. It boggles the mind that so many here cannot grasp that reasoning.
MSNBC.com has a breaking news headline: "Justice Department interested in reviewing Microsoft's offer for Yahoo." No link yet for the story as its breaking news... Atleast some in government have concerns over a huge market shared by just two companies.
In any circumstance, it's an extra ordinary situation ... this 2 gaints are fight for each other. Sometimes it makes me laugh, sometimes it make me think - who is gonna be the KING? At the end one has to go definitely - who will be the loser?
