I agree the first they we would do is try to befriend them, so that we could gain from their knowledge and technology. But if they didn't give it up willingly we would probably try force or trickery
Just imagine how advanced a civilization would have to be to travel from solar system to solar system, the power source alone to power a vehicle to travel that fast and far wouldn't even be comprehendable to us on Earth, so if it came to war, we would probably last a whole 12 minutes. They would just orbital bomb or something Actually, that would be a great movie! An alien race comes to befriend humanity but we trigger a war!
there are life outside of the Earth, but the other planets are very very very far from us.. We are not alone.
it does not speak of it either. as far as I know the events in there all took place on this planet and there was never any mention of any except that place in the After-Life. I don't mean to argue, this is just what I happen to know, and thus, believe. the question after all is, Do you believe in "Life" outside of Earth?" =)
Your not arguing with me at all, i am in agreement, the bible does not mention anything about other beings, so Christians would not really have a stand against the notion. I like the idea, i always have, every night when i walk the dogs, i look up into the starry sky and hope to see something extraordinary. Haven't yet though, just shooting stars, or are they?
life does exists in various other forms away from our planet.......it's a matter of debate whether this life is as intelligent as our's......or exceeds our's
Not true. I believe there probably is life on other planets and I believe in the Bible. Of course there are references to suns rising , going down and things like that but thats the same as this morning when the newscaster said sunrise would be at such and such an hour. its part of normal language to refer to things in relationship to how we view them. the sun does go down from my perspective and I know the earth rotates around the sun. There is even an equation in the book of revelations that is impossible unless the earth is revolving around the sun and both are rotating on their axis. SO its not a matter of religion. The Bible teaches that God is infinite in his attributes so I think its pretty likely he didn't stop with life on Earth. Just my two cents.
That was later contested and theres still much debate on the meteorite http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ALH84001 I think if there is life it will probably be further out around another sun but who knows?
Further more... I'm not sure about most religions, but Christianity, only speaks of earth and its inhabitants, so again it doesn't rule out other life. I'm a young earther, so i believe the earth is closer to 6000 years. God created the heavens and the earth in 7 day, time is not restrictive. My 2 cents
I'm not religious so for ME it would be silly not to believe in life on other worlds. The universe is so vast that humans will never be able to explore the whole thing so there is a possibility that we might never meet em.
I would say 50 50 chance. You have to think about all the millions of factors that happened for life to begin. Not one planet is alike they might be similar but did not have the same factors.
The factors can be different as long as the aliens anatomy was different then ours. There could be other beings that could survive without oxygen for example.
The Drake Equation was developed by Frank Drake in 1961 as a way to focus on the factors which determine how many intelligent, communicating civilizations there are in our galaxy. The Drake Equation is: N = N* fp ne fl fi fc fL. Here's more detail
