BTW... What are you talking about Microsoft Owning FacebooK?? What planet are you on? They only own a "PIECE" of Facebook. http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/oct2007/tc20071024_654439.htm And if you read the article it even says "MICROSOFT NEEDS TO WAKE UP".. Well the Giant has awoken.. you can only throw so many rocks, and pebbles before it wants to scratch it's nose.. ;-) D/C
Never said they completely owned facebook...I said they have an acquisition with Facebook...Please read the posts clearly before blasting away with giberish.
Yahoo should accept this bid. The gap between Google and its competitors is continuously widening. If US goes into a recession, it will be difficult even to find a buyer at $20...
I hope it happens I think publishers can benefit from this. Hopefully they fix ypn and get it working prefectly and it will compete with google again. When that happens only good things can come frim it for us.
Google owns them in the search category but yahoo has them in a lot more categories. That's why yahoo is still the number 1 most visited site online. If you look at alexa (I know it lies) but yahoo has almost double the visitors google does.
So basically if this goes ahead we´re gonna have to main search engines: google msn/yahoo (will they keep both or make one good one?)
Yes, I predicted this sometime ago when the rumour mills were working overtime. This is only natural and the only way to counter Google. Combining the resources of MSFT and YHOO, they may be able to create a stronger search brand. Yahoo will almost certainly need to accept. Don't be surprised if others make an approach too. The interesting question we must ask ourseleves is, if the takeover does proceed, will the search engines remain seperate or will they create a single searh and rename it?
The deal has not been consummated yet. I believe it is too good of a deal for Yahoo to pass up. It will be interesting to see how things turn out.
An interesting movement, but not surprising from my point of view. No what will happen with YPN, does that mean we would get a lot of cool tools and other little programing bits from the Microsoft end
I believe the search engines landing pages will be separate but it wouldn't be prudent for Microsoft to staff two search engine departments. In addition, only one marketing group will survive. Either Adcenter or YSM/YPN. Once again it isn't prudent to continue development, maintenance, 2 customer service groups, 2 payment groups, etc. On another note, Google announced earnings, and the interesting part to me is 34% of Google's quarterly revenue came from Adsense. If Microsoft/Yahoo could ever get their publisher version going in full swing it opens up a huge market and would cut into Google's. Personally, I think if they do that it hurts publishers using adsense now as advertisers have more options and thus less people in one system (Adsense now) competing for the consumers money. Just like Warner/AOL merger, Yahoo will keep its name brand, it would not be smart to not do so.
Think they will keep the both. If Microsoft buys Yahoo! then it makes Google to work harder. Google stock has been down for several weeks because of low advertising. If Google will keep the style, Microsoft/Yahoo will be soon the most popular search engine. But yes, I bet Google will never let anyone to beat them. I wonder if this news have been around inside the company and did google know it from the beggining, if it diid then we might see nice updates with google soon. Stock goes up again and theres no need to worry. Although, alternative to adsense is good yes.
how did you come up with that double traffic figure? google's average weekly reach is actually more than that of Yahoo....27.65..compared to 27.33 of Yahoo. I think Yahoo gets a better rank because of its pageviews. Many of Yahoo's users are the ones that have been using Yahoo since 2000 or earlier. These include those using Yahoo mail , yahoo groups etc. this is the reason why Yahoo's pageviews are much greater than that of google. Yahoo has failed to come up with anything really innovative in the last few years. It is still riding on its dot com era success. Google has reported a Q4 profit of $1210 million compared to $205 million of Yahoo.... Google has the traffic that matters....traffic that clicks ads....
Everyone who wants to make money off of microsoft. If MSFT guarantees 31$ (USD) per share, you buy as much stock as you can as long as it's below that amount. If the merger actually happens you have a 100% chance to make money. Of course, if the merger doesn't you will lose your shirt :-p
