directing a keyword rich domain?

Using an existing domain there is a reasonable amount of traffic and enquiries but not from the UK.

I have managed to secure a very keyword rich .co.uk domain and need to know how best to utilise this.

Do I simply point the domain at the website or create a very keyword rich micro site with links back to the main site?

What is the best way to approach this?

    Thanks

You have two options as you say

1/ 301 redirect the domain to your main site...and do a linkbuilding campaign using the new domain and your chosen keywords.
if you think it may get type in traffic, redirect is also good

2/ the better option I would say, is to create a small site with the domain and optimise it as a seperate site. Link from there to your main site in a 'some' key places on the site.
Build backlinks to this domain targetting your keywords
Dont create a dodgy looking link network site (make it natural)
Dont overstuff the pages with keywords.
use good page title and descriptions
Host the site on a clean UK IP address

if you are trying to get more UK traffic for your other domain:
    have you....
In webmaster tools -> select UK as your sites target location....(thanks ssandecki ;) )
Host the site on a UK server
