Americans are not stupid.

You'll pardon me for not being too savvy of TouchAshley's earlier posts. If anyone has expressed support for the war, then I suppose he's partly guilty of the crimes committed... at least, by association.

But, the point I was trying to make was that most Americans support the war not because they're "stupid" or "uncultured" but because a sort of paranoia has been instilled in their minds by their politicians. To quote what someone said on another thread, "Those Iraqis will come raze our buildings the moment we pull our troops out of there." I can't remember who said it but the general American impression of the Middle East is that everyone living there walks around with a heater stuffed up their asses, conspiring against the US of A.

I've personally never been to the Middle East, nor am I Muslim, but I can tell you by empirical observation alone that it is terribly foolish to blame acts of individuals on an entire religion or nationality. After all, if you were being bombed by fighter jets, would you curse birds for inspiring the invention of airplanes?

 

After reading most of the replies posted here, I see why the Americans in this discussion are so pissed.

Before you jump and bounce and whatever you need to do to chill, you should pay some attention to what your country is doing all in all.

Yes... Bill Gates created Microsoft. I congratulate him.
Yes... Abe Lincoln had a funny beard. I congratulate him... he was hip.
Yes.... US invented the DOLLAR. No comment.

What is with these arguments? It is like you are trying to create the perfect excuse so that the normal American citizen is pardoned for his own stupidity and unawareness. You cannot rely on your ancestors and ok... some living ones (check Billy) to take all dumb ass americans from the shit hole and polish them to a shiny glow and make them pretty.

Bill Gates did it, P. Diddy... did it (although he ain't the brightest lad in the barn) and many more examples of successful americans..

Instead of wining about who's the greatest country... because that is how you put it... not what is... you should start making changes in your own community.

And the worst part is that you are correct.. all of you.. americans are not stupid... but you think all of us are... from all TV shows and YouTube videos and so on you only show the greed, the vanity and the lack of compassion. You have a lot of good people who devote their lives to other foreign causes and those are the people that have to bear the likes of 70% of amercans who just don't give a s*** about anything.

You are controlled through your credit cards, the state knows everything about your most intimate life and still claim you live in an awesome country.

Why, well because being an american myself it is hard to find ppl who are open to understanding other countries because ppl are so busy living there so called lives in the biggest economy. Alot of ppl in a america are more worried about entertainment and fantasies than other countries. My american opinion of china is that they kill and endanger all kinds of rare and delicate animals for there own gain. I once watched a china man say they rather eat all the animals now and save themselves and there famlies with the medicianal powers of animal. ppl study america because of there dreams to aspire somthing better and countries go crazy over trying to get some power in this world.

Yes... I agree... I won't say that I do not have it in a certain quantity but you are 100% correct. But I also want to state the fact that the US is one of its top promoters... I mean the Bush administration which still has a lot o supporters amongst the US citizens.

As I said above: be a part of the community and change something. It is a lot easier for you to talk about freedom and human and civil rights because you have them for hundreds of years... we have it for like 5... 20 years since the revolution... but I think only 5 since some of the democracy started to show up.... so we are facing a lot different crowd.

I for myself am a very big fan of politics... I have looked over its past and actions and find him to be a role model. He is my type of american... if I even have that right.. to call him "MY TYPE"... but he is the change.

Maybe we'll talk this subject again in a few years if GOD helps us!

One thing I do love about America, all arguments aside, is your reward attitude culture for hard work put in, whereas here in the UK, we don't have such a reward culture but live in a punishment culture instead, which is why it's incredibly difficult for many people to get ahead here. On that note, give me America any day over trying to be in business for yourself in the British Isles.

Here, the average real tax bill, when you add them all up together, stealth taxes and all, VAT at 17.5%, rates for this that and the other, adds up to a staggering 78% and it takes the average working man in this country until the second week of June, every year, simply to pay all his income tax according to figures released by The Independent newspaper.

Why on earth this government here is so bent on strangling financially the population here and our entrepreneurialism is quite beyond me, for in doing so they shoot themselves too, in the foot.

i honestly think it's absolutely pointless when som1 chooses to categorize an entire group of people by their perspective, let alone a single person. America has it's greatness and flaws just like any other nation. Similarly, a general perception among a lot of western world is that all Muslims are terrorist and Islam preaches violence. lack of knowledge and narrow mind makes us human envy people we can't b like, or just envy things we can't seem to grasp...

 

I think like the saying, Country and people are only as good as the leader. We thought you were the smartest people in the World unless you chose Bush as President. Maybe once it was a mistake, but twice. Even stupid people are smart sometimes.

 

Americans aren't that smart, what they did is smart. They create working conditions for thousands of high skilled workers that want a better life and higher paying jobs. All the good, high qualified workers end up in America because there they are respected and compensated according to their capabilities. Unfortunately this doesn't happen in 90% of the countries around the world.

If you look at all the top companies in America, especially in the technological sector you will undoubtedly notice that most are either founded my immigrates or are in partnership with them.
